The 2A says "arms", not guns. Arms is defined as weaponry, which means anything from a knife to a nuclear warhead or cannisters of Sarin gas is an "arm". We already have lines drawn as to what kind of "arm" you are allowed to bear, as society would not last long if this was unrestricted. The debate is where to draw the line.

I just found a way to compromise. The government can have all of my nuclear weapons but leave my guns alone. That was easy. I have no problem with this.

Well, since Sarin gas nor Nuclear warheads were known when the constitution was written, I doubt those are what was meant.

Is that the qualification?

So semi-auto, modern shotguns, revolvers, really anything that wasn't a flintlock or muzzle-loading gun is to not be included?

Can't have it both ways. We either go by strictly what it says or what we think they meant.

Well, we know they didn't mean Sarin gas or nuclear weapons.

Ar-15's and semi-auto' s with 30 round clips were not around back then either. I'm assuming there was never a situation back then where 19+ elementary school kids and a couple of teachers were murdered at one time.
