That's tough...

Thanks for posting. It's good (whether we like it or not) to see that there's impact beyond just the guy that got arrested.
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around why a recent CU grad would do something like this. I'm interested in understanding the "Why" part of this deal. Obviously, whatever happened and however this turns out, Jadar is only 22 and has a VERY LONG time ahead of him in this world. This ain't the end... it certainly ain't good, but it's not the end of the story.

If convicted on a felony charge that just limits your employment options severely. Hope this gets reduced or they retain a very good lawyer.

...to pretend to take either side. Until both sides of the story come out I have no idea how to pass judgement since I know very little other than he was arrested for certain allegations. Either way, I believe in redemption and can only hope all three of these men become good and hard working citizens.

I like to know the "why" part, too, although I am in general not sympathetic to miscreants, particularly those who have been as highly favored in life as Jadar.

This will linger with his the rest of his life and his prospects of being a fully functioning productive citizen, while completely impossible, will be extremely thin.

One of the hardest things for any of us to understand is how our actions impact so many other people, quite often, the ones we love and don't want to hurt.

I can no longer find the link. The only paper that had the story (as far as I know) is the Charleston Post and Courier. He was arrested by the Clemson police and the charge was damage or destruction of property of less than $2,000, or very similar language. This incident seems to have been well buried. Someone posted the link in one of the numerous threads regarding this story.

Excellent post. Clemson fans are way down the list of people these guys have let down:
(1) themselves. All the hard work, academically and athletically, is in great jeopardy of being thrown out the window all for one stupid decision.
(2) Their families. The ones who struggled to get them where they are, who encouraged them, motivated them, stuck with them in good times and bad, cried with them, celebrated with them, and saw the best in them. And who now have to deal with seeing the worst in them.
(3) Their teammates, coaches and friends. Those who counted on them and also depended on them and stuck with them through good times and bad.
(4) The fans. Kids - some who knew these guys personally, and some who didn't - who looked up to them and wanted to be like them. What a huge disappointment.
The takeaway is pretty simple here. Decisions have consequences. Small moments can have huge repercussions. However long it took for them to decide to do that and to carry it out - maybe an hour? - may well wipe out years of hard work and accomplishment. We may never know why. Peer pressure. Drugs. Depression. Who knows. And it really doesn't matter.
They had so many resources at their disposal - from parents/family, to former teammates, and the coaches who I'm certain would still make time for them. Yet this is what they chose. And now they - and everyone else - have to live with the consequences.
I hope the best for them, but the best for them now is not nearly what it was 6 months or a year ago.

As a fellow alum, I've done more for him financially than any of the people mentioned above. I expect a sincere apology once we get him PTI and he avoids jailtime.

mandatory minimums don't mean chit. They just drop the charges to something lesser and set him free. That's how it works round these parts.
