So, FSU is the 2nd most roster talented team we will have played this year. Hard to fathom we lost to that much talent disparity... And played the others so close.

Compared our OL roster to OSU - excluding freshman. It's astounding.

The gap between us and UGA is worrisome. And I fear it's only going to grow larger with their recruiting and willingness to accept players from the transfer portal. Same with Alabama and Ohio State. We can't keep falling further behind those programs.

Fortunately, there is a pretty massive gap between us and everybody else in the Atlantic. FSU fell off and Clemson took their place back in 2015. There is not another "Clemson" in our division that could go on a run like we did. That makes me optimistic about the future even though the present is so frustrating.

But, the ACC is definitely improving in overall talent. Most ACC teams will have more talented rosters next year. I hope that we can still say the same.

UGA, Bama, and OSU are top tier in terms of talent. I think we’re in the second tier with LSU, and then there’s another drop off with teams like Texas, OU, and PSU in the third tier.

We’re certainly falling behind the top tier by not using the portal and giving scholarship to too many walk-ons. I’m certain Dabo can see this. But will he make changes?

We'll see what happens with next years roster. We've steadily increased in talent. This years team is more talented than last years, which was more talented than 2018, etc. The 2022 class has talent but not a lot of commits. Maybe this means we'll finally bring in transfer portal players.

Those 3 continue to slowly pull further away, annually increasing an already significant lead over the rest of CFB.

First off, is there a reason you didn't include BC in your list of teams we have played?

Also, presenting this as if FSU will be the second best team we have played is quite misleading.

These numbers reflect star rankings coming out of high school and do not account for the age or development of the talent.

Pitt having a very large number of 5th and 6th year guys on their roster definitely tips their scale much higher in terms of the functional talent that is on the field.

Also remember this scale would place a guy like Frank Ladson in high regard even though he hasn't made impact due to injury this season.

It would also give essentially no credit to a guy like Will Taylor that was certainly having greater than a 2 star impact on games while he was healthy.

So you are implying that for the most part recruiting rankings are so far off? I would hope not because there is a pretty definitive reason the best teams in college football have the best recruiting classes.

He simply posts the recruiting talent for each team before each game, I’m not sure why this bothers you so much. Does the O stand for offense? Is that you Tony?

I just thought people would be interested in seeing the talent level of each team we play.

Great post. Of course the board is interested in facts and data. Even with the mass turmoil, I was shocked that FSU's talent level had dropped so far. With all that said I am expecting another close game on Saturday. If Ga Tech can take us to the wire anything is possible. Plain to see that we are getting less from more like no other time in Dabo's tenure for whatever reasons.

It will be interesting to keep track of these for the future. I have a feeling that FSU and BC are going to make pretty substantial moves next year, especially if they are able to attract players from the portal. GT is another team that will continue climbing.

Do you assume it bothers me so much just because I responded with an alternate point? Emotional posts are not really my thing.

I didn't imply that recruiting ranking are so far off. I feel they are generally close enough to give a good idea of how most teams will perform.

That clearly doesn't apply to Clemson this year though.

Doesn't apply to Wake or Pitt so far either.

Recruiting rankings are good at generalizing where a team stands in terms of talent but there are exceptions to the rule every season.

There are a lot more exceptions this season with the presence of the 5th year of eligibility. It is creating a more decided advantage for teams, even with lesser ranked recruits, to have more developmental time to improve their players to a much higher level than the school would typically see with normal eligibility.

No team has won the CFP w/ a Blue Chip Ratio of less than 50%, maybe this is the year? NO! STARS ARE A REQUIZET-

There are exceptions to the rule of talent determining the end result for each team's season.

Clemson is a perfect example of that.

If pure talent was the determining factor we would be comfortably 6-1.

I didn't say there are exceptions to the national champion being a good recruiter.

In general, you can play far below your talent level but you can't play far above it for an entire season.

I think this is why you see so many people breaking college football into tiers.

Teams may be able to fit into tier 3 based on talent and finish the season with a record better than most tier 2 teams, but it's almost impossible to move up more than 1 tier in terms of expected results based off of talent.

Teams have a ceiling but not a floor.

Talent acquisition is: not the lone factor but it is by far the most important element, quantified by the composite * rating-

No, I used my own formula and gathered all the information myself.

I only include Top 1000 recruits, which are worth 1 point. 4 stars are worth 1.25 points. 5 stars are worth 1.5 points.
