The Walker Cup coverage has been outstanding

There are all of these talented young guys playing one of the greatest courses in the world. To make it even better, there are no commercials, not a single one. The only thing that could make it better would be to have one of our guys on the team. I hope a lot of you will watch some of it tomorrow, if for no other reason than to see what a magnificent course that Seminole is.

Seminole reminds me of the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, both having lots of long sand traps to the side of fairways and a lots of traps surrounding the greens. When it came to designing those two Golf courses Donald Ross(Seminole) and Pete and Alice Dye(Ocean Course) had lots of sand in common that is for sure.Speaking of the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island,I am looking forward to seeing in 2 weeks at the PGA Championship(May 20-23)how the guys on the PGA Tour tackle that course this time around compared 2012.Hopefully in two weeks the players will get tested and will have to deal with some hard windy conditions coming off the ocean and thus making the greens lightening fast to putt on like 2012,the last time Ocean Course played host to the PGA Championship.

I played Seminole once years ago, and quickly learned that I wasn’t nearly as good as I thought I was. That course requires more precision on approach shots than any I’ve ever played, and I could see why Hogan loved it. I’ve played The Ocean Course a few times, but I’m not a fan of Pete Dye courses, with the exception of Harbor Town.

I bet that was a fun experience to get to play Seminole.Just seeing the layout of the course on tv a good many times,I would think you would have be pretty dern good off the tee and the same could be said about the Ocean course. You can definitely say that you have played some great Golf courses during your lifetime, having played those 3 that you mentioned.

I’ve been very fortunate to have played a number of great courses. The fairways at Seminole aren’t that hard to hit, although it’s best to be on the proper side of the fairway to have the best angle to the green. The second shot is where it really gets difficult.

I've played Seminole a number of times and as recently as 2018 after some renovations by Coore and Crenshaw. They were supposed to re-grass the greens right after I played it, so they ought to be in great shape by now. It is easy to putt off some of the greens if you are not careful.
The second time I played the course, I played it with Pete Dye who was a member there. He told me a story of him being at the course one day and Ben Hogan asked him if he would like to play a round with him. Of course Pete, who was an excellent player, said yes. So Pete said while Ben was getting dressed for play in the locker room, he went to the pro shop and bought a set of Hogan irons. Then, to make them look used, he took them outside and rubbed them on the concrete to scratch them up. Pete was a real character.

I’m reaching the point that I can’t remember how I used to play.

Gonna be fun. I liked the ocean course when I played it a decade ago. I'm stoked about the RBC Canadian at congaree. Simply to see it and because of what they're doing with it mission wise. Also supporting Lucas's goal to save jasper course... Taking young underprivileged kids and teaching them golf and providing potential schollys and life lessons are way better than handing them a check to blow at Wal-Mart.
My apologies, not meant to be a rant. But yes, not sure I've ever met a course I didn't like. Since I'm there to play golf, it's got to be a wonderful day. Greens can be dirt and I'm still loving it.

I’m also looking forward to seeing Congaree. It’s a Fazio course, so I’m sure it’s good.

Clemgal ..... you are exactly right. I never refer to any golf course as a "goat track" or in any derogatory term, as if people can play there and enjoy themselves, who am I to cast shade on their course.

Jacob probably would have been on it if the selections weren't made early spring... I would think. But it is fun to watch. Doesn't gbi have 2 wake players. Maybe one current and a former that hasn't turned pro yet. Either way, quite the honor. Future stars.

One Wake player for sure, and maybe there is another. There is at least one other who plays at some school in the US.
