RULES for Clemson Fans this weekend

Sep 26, 2016, 2:55 PM

1. Wear Orange as a primary color to your attire. No white, black, navy, purple, pink, yellow with green bowtie, blue, seer sucker, or any other color. ORANGE! If you need help, just think like this, "If what I am wearing today were worn by EVERYONE in Death Valley, would the crowd still look like a 'Sea of Orange?'".

2. Don't sell your tickets to Louisville fans or scalpers. When in doubt, ask them to name the kicker, the defensive coordinator, the offensive coordinator (trick question), or who used to wear #28.

3. DO NOT pull in your tailgating spot after 1pm. DON'T BE THAT GUY/GIRL. Get there early, set up, and enjoy yourselves.

4. Go to Gameday. 9am to 12pm. Be there; be loud. Let's break our own record for loudest Gameday crowd.

5. Go to Tigerwalk. 5:50pm (aka 2 hours and 10 minutes before every game).

6. Get in the stadium EARLY and be somewhat sober. As soon as the band goes by the stadium, head in! No more whining about missing the Tigers running down the Hill. If you miss it, it's because you didn't get to your seats after the band went by. Be in your seat by 7:15pm; bonus points for dragging a frat boy to his seat. If you're drunk, you can't effectively be the 12th man!

7. If you are a student and you have a Hill ticket, sit on the band side of the Hill. The other side fills up so fast because of students coming in from Gate 5, and then the band side is completely empty. Don’t be a sheep and follow the crowd…plus, you’ll get a better spot. You're welcome.

8. Go to the bathroom before kickoff. Otherwise, you are going to miss something.

9. If we are on defense, yell at the top of your lungs/clap/stomp/make noise. The louder we make it, the better it will be. Don't get mad at the players for not making a play or the coaches for not making a good call if you aren't doing your job either! If you aren't hoarse on Sunday, you didn't do your job.

10. SHUT UP when we are on offense. No sound. SHHHHHH!

11. If you Woo Hoo, you aren't a true fan. If you don't know how it originated, look it up. Real Clemson fans don't Woo Hoo. It kills me to know they were teaching it at freshman orientation a few years ago. There's no debating this one, and thankfully it's dying.

12. Stand on your seat for every play. Yep -- just like GT in 2006. It's going to be like that.

13. If the refs make a bad call, let them have it. Relentless. Those refs for the SC State game completely lost control. We need the refs to FEAR making a terrible call.

14. No matter what, DO NOT leave the game early. Your ticket is worth over $250, minimum. Make sure you get every bit of value out of it.

15. Be nice to the Louisville fans. It's going to really stink for them to drive home with an L. You'll make it so much worse when it's hard to be mad at Clemson fans.

16. Get plenty of sleep the night before. I don't need no one falling asleep on us!

17. During the Alma Mater, don't raise your hand until, "O'er" in "O'er the mountain height." Also, when you raise your hand, tuck that thumb in!

Kickoff is officially at 8:22pm.

What MarineOne is referring to is any item such as a ticket is "worth" what a willing buyer and seller are willing to exchange for it aka fair market value for an arms length transaction. In this case the cheapest tix for the Louisville game I have seen lately are going for anywhere from $250 to upwards of $500-600 each.

regarding students on one side of the hill before game

Sep 26, 2016, 3:21 PM

Referring to your statement on students sitting on the other side of the hill... Someone decided it was a good idea to only let students in through one gate on the south side and there is no way to get to the other side of the hill before the team runs down it. Also the rickety looking stands they put up right by the hill for more student seating don't make it any easier to maneuver around and try and get onto the hill in a somewhat orderly fashion.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ok

Sep 26, 2016, 3:35 PM

-If you get in the stadium when the band goes by, you are allowed to walk right past the Rock.
-If you get in the stadium after they've blocked off the top of the Hill, just take a 10-minute stroll around the lower concourse of the stadium, and VIOLA!
-If it can't be done, then how are some students doing it?
-Excuses allow for lower standards, and at Clemson, BEST is the standard.

Sep 26, 2016, 4:25 PM

Well I am going to fail on a few of these...

#2. My wife grew up in Louisville so she is a Card. (She pulls for Clemson and against Scar in all other games though)

#3. Won't have a baby sitter soon enough am planning on being there by 2 though.

#4. See above

#15. Please do this my wife is slightly worried even though I have told her she should be fine in her UL shirt.

#16. See #3 above... hopefully my kiddo will be nice and allow us a nice nights sleep.

Sep 26, 2016, 5:23 PM

Clemson this year. I remember hearing that somewhere. They do not seem to be a huge band though (Wikipedia page says average 150-250 members).

So we will need to be extra loud to combat that.

17. It is C-L-E-M in CADENCE Count! Cadence, all you junior bassmasters, cadence. It is so much more ominous done in cadence. The student section sounds like 15k drunk auctioneers saying it as fast as possible. Have some respect for those that serve and have served and do it in CADENCE. And drop that despicable wooo! you've added to this one as well.

18. During the Alma Mater, wait for the hand wave's proper time, and tuck your thumb against the palm of your hand. You are symbolically waving your cadet cap, not dancing with the Village People.

19. Leave the f-n out of spelling out Clemson during Tiger Rag. Come on, really?

Re: Thanks, MarineOne. Here are a couple of others....

Sep 28, 2016, 11:15 AM [ in reply to Thanks, MarineOne. Here are a couple of others.... ]

I thought that, when I was a student in the 70s, that there were only two fights at the end of the cadence count.
Fight Tigers, fight Tigers, fight, fight! Is that correct? We certainly have lost that and I like it much better that way.

Concerning the Alma Mater - I totally agree! DO NOT raise your hand until singing the word "o'er." This bothers me more than the woo hoo. However, I did not know about the thumb. I will do it that way from now on. I read somewhere that Dabo had the Alma Mater taught to the football team. We noticed at the GA Tech game that they raised their arms at the correct time! We were impressed. I think this should be taught at freshman orientation.

"Fight Tigers, Fight ######, Fight, Fight" is how the cadence originally ends. No third "fight". Amazes me how many "Diehard Clemson fans" know nothing about Clemson's very rich military background.

they're about to snap the ball. Make it impossible for them to hear anything ever when they're on offense. Make their ears bleed (figuratively).

Re: Elaboration on #9. Yell the whole down - not just when

This! I can't stand when everyone gets quiet while they are in the huddle. As soon as the play is over, I'm yelling again. Make it difficult to even call a play

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

#12 I highly disagree with...

Sep 27, 2016, 6:19 PM

If you want to stand all game I've got no problem with that....but standing on your seat (as opposed to in front of your seat) causes a huge issue for:
- anyone under 15
- anyone over 35
- anyone that spent good $ on chairbacks

When's you get on the seat, you make it impossible for them to enjoy the game. This is not a stay seated request....I stand during big games. Just be considerate and stand in front of your seat, not on it.

Rest looks good to me.

Go Tigers

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

# 18...........

Sep 27, 2016, 7:24 PM

And no matter what any Johnny-come-latelies" say, there are only 2 "Fight"s at the end of the Cadence Count. Here's the only correct way to end this epic cheer:

Fight Tigers, Fight D*mn it, Fight! Fight!

If you insist on substituting another "Fight Tigers" in place of "Fight D*mn it", all is forgiven - BUT - there can be no leniency on how many "Fight"s there are at the end. If you use 3, you're a major fail..... no discussion allowed.
