The story behind UVA womens basketball coach leaving

She went to Africa and adopted a child a few years ago but left the country without adoption papers in order. She is now fighting to make the adoption permanent.

She should be commended for adopting but don't understand why people go
overseas to adopt when there are so many kids available in America and you
most of the time you don't have to deal with all the paperwork, red tape, and paying off
administrators in other countries. I have a relative who assists in adoptions in America
and she tells me the horror stories of couples getting ripped off and hastles oversees.

I know of a few friends who had to go overseas to adopt thanks to the political red tape on American ones. I agree with you that it is sad, but it's a problem our government created.

Depends on the state in which you are adopting

I had little problems here 2 years. Also, know of 2 other couples that completed the adoption process within a year. So, I don't necessarily think that international adoptions are easier.

complete BS that after all she went through to do this a problem crops up. typical useless govt redtape to keep someone from helping a child who needs it.
