The schedule next year is gonna be pretty rough early

Dec 11, 2016, 3:48 PM

Auburn and FSU In the first 4 games. At least they are at home. At Louisville, NC State, VaTech. Will we win 10 next year??? Thoughts?

The ACC schedule hasn't been announced.

Dec 11, 2016, 3:51 PM

Auburn second game at home. Could be rough.

Our defense should keep us in every game, though and give the offense time to improve. No reason we can't compete for the ACC again.

While safe to assume Auburn early, why do you think you know the rest if the schedule?

Dec 11, 2016, 3:52 PM

We used to play FSU early, sometimes firat game, then several years ago moved the game to November.

I was thinking the same thing. Has the schedule been released? The ACC never dies its schedule early. Which is sad.

But FSU early is better than later. IMHO. For several reasons. One, it gives the loser time to recover in the polls. Which the ACC office seems to stupid to understand. Two, as the norm, FSU improves as the season progresses.

Did I miss a schedule release? I know Auburn is at home for

Dec 11, 2016, 3:52 PM

the opener, but where did you see FSU was at home in week four? Thanks in advance.

I saw a schedule online. It shows Kent State game 1, Auburn 2, and FSU 4. The rest just showed opponent home/away date tba. I'll try to find a link.

The first two games are correct.

I'm not sure about FSU since the ACC schedule has not been released.

The opponents have been known for months...

Dec 11, 2016, 4:16 PM [ in reply to Did I miss a schedule release? I know Auburn is at home for ]

We also know the dates of the OOC games. What we don't know are the dates of the conference games.

9/2 - Kent State

9/9 - Auburn

11/18 - The Citadel

11/24 - at $CU

The home Conference opponents are;

FSU, BC, Georgia Tech and Wake

The Conference road games are;

at Virginia Tech, at NC State, at Syracuse and at Louisville

I suggest you ask Dabo who probably hasn't given next year a thought.
And that's my thought on next year.

Re: The schedule next year is gonna be pretty rough early

Dec 11, 2016, 3:53 PM

It's really gonna come down to how good qb play is and how good our OCs really are can they match bv success replacing players year after year we will see I

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let's hope.

Dec 11, 2016, 3:53 PM

This place stays in complain mode about something even if we are undefeated! A semi's worth of diapers will be needed if we are looking at one or two or (gasp!) three losses.....I am most interested to see what direction we go at QB.

Me too. QB is key. At least we have options there. I think DW has spoiled us though.

Dec 11, 2016, 7:38 PM

Fully expect Thursday night at VT and Friday night at Lewisville and 2 noon hot September games. Swofford mad he was booed at ACC championship game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

hoping our defense is at it capacity next year

Dec 11, 2016, 3:59 PM

Which I think should be better. That keeps us in the game vs auburn early. Then hoping out qb comes out of the gates a competitor but if we can sneak by that game then hopefully into the groove by game 5. I think qb is our biggest question mark. Can't wait to see if Bryant comes out slinging or if cooper earns it or . . .

Re: The schedule next year is gonna be pretty rough early

Dec 11, 2016, 4:30 PM

Yes, ten wins will happen but with a new QB there will be struggles early. The Tigers will reload (not rebuild) next year.

Re: The schedule next year is gonna be pretty rough early

Dec 11, 2016, 7:22 PM

Yep I can see 10-2 but could be from 8-4 to 12-0 just depends on how goo whoever steps in at QB is. Bryant should know the system but needs to have more confidence IMO. Cooper could come out and be like DW in the fact he is sure of himself and poise. Cooper seems like he has that it factor DW has. I know they are different and Cooper needs to be himself but I think he will have the even head DW has and can have confidence in himself as a first year starter.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hate to say it but prepare yourself for an 8-4 kind of year

Dec 11, 2016, 7:50 PM

That's still not awful but we should expect to look like Florida St did this year. Get beat by VT, Smashed by Louisville, lose a close one to Florida st and since we will be playing our rivals in their house that could really go either way.

we will be ok.

Dec 11, 2016, 7:12 PM

Yep. The D should be awesome.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It all comes down to QB, RB and LB.

Dec 11, 2016, 7:26 PM

I guess it really comes down to just QB.

Doesn't hunter enroll early? Kinda surprised no one mentioned him for a chance at qb. Honestly don't see it being kelly. I hate to utter the comparison but he reminds me of the coots qb that just quit the team.

Re: The schedule next year is gonna be pretty rough early

Dec 11, 2016, 9:08 PM

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me to see Johnson contend for the job. I think it's going to come down to which QB makes the least amount of mental mistakes. I think that guy may be the one that gets the job. Truth be told we really don't need a do it all QB to be successful. Need a guy who can extend plays check into the right blocking and deliver the ball to the playmakers

Re: The schedule next year is gonna be pretty rough early

Dec 11, 2016, 9:38 PM

Yeah like where you're headed with that. Give whoever time to grow into the playbook. Cool feeling better about 17 already.

Dec 11, 2016, 10:46 PM [ in reply to Re: The schedule next year is gonna be pretty rough early ]

I think the smartest one will win the job. All of them will have similar abilities but the one that can truly learn the playbook and be able to read the defense and get into the correct play and protection will be our next qb.
