The real reason we didn’t win the national championship

We didn’t win our conference. I mean, if you let a team compete for a title that didn’t win their conference, that would be a major problem. There could be injuries and missed penalties and they could win a national title that would essentially have an asterisk by it. I think we can all agree that would further erode confidence in the sport.

We all do not agre. Conference championship is not/should not be a prerequisite.
Have no problems with Alabama in years past or UGA winning with is year.

here's a reason......

So Clemson has a shot of getting in moving forward.
The NIL is ruining the game and shifting the balance of power to ONLY the richest. There are 10-12 programs in the country that can MONETARILY pay millions for recruiting classes every year and CLEMSON IS NOT ONE OF THEM!
expand to 16 and we'd at least have a shot otherwise it's gonna be Texas, TexasA&M, Ohio State, Bama, UGA, maybe ND, michigan, SoCal, OU vying for the four spots on a regular basis.

Why have the power 5 conferences and not reward the winner of each? When you start talking about "the 5 best teams", you invite bias and it becomes subjective. This is because it isn't earned on the field. UGA didn't beat a single team during the regular season and got obliterated in the SEC Championship game (by a good, not great Bama team). I'm sure Notre Dame and Baylor would have loved another opportunity...but only Georgia got it. The playoff committee, along with the transfer portal, is ruining college football. Only thing left to do is expand the playoffs to 6 teams. The 5 conference champions goes and the 6th slot would go to a smaller school (if undefeated) if not undefeated, then a team like UGA this year gets in. The top 2 teams get a first round bye (that way, the regular season still matters). More importantly, championship weekend matters. Stop dissuading people from watching championship Saturday, and reward the teams for winning their conference.
Bottom line, UGA shouldn't have been there. Give me enough 40 foot putts, and I'm bound to make one.

I had this wild idea that there should be a conference realignment (mostly the group of 5 schools) that created 8 super conferences where each champion would get an automatic bid into an 8 game playoff using the 4 major New Years bowls and then play 2 semi's and a championship game. That would make the conference title games elimination games for the playoffs and only conference champions go to the playoffs... No committee needed other than for seeding the 8 conference champions. Bama gets to keep their first round cupcake so they'd be happy....

what kind of logic is that? Just because you don't win the conference has nothing to do with it. If you are picked as one of the four best- and you beat the other three - you there for are the best of that group. NOw have the four best teams been picked each time- I think not.
