recruits to come to their school (ok, allegedly - HA!) is that money won't buy championships. It certainly can help, but it's also no guarantee. You have to have the right coaching and the guys have to be able to play together as a team. You're not going to have success with 22 prima donnas. You'll have lots of potential and high expectations, but - ask Jerry Jones - it's no guarantee of winning.
As we get further and further into this NIL muck, and until the NCAA does something to refine it (yeah, right), you're going to see these immature kids going Steve Miller on their teams and taking the money and running. It happens in the NFL, so it's sure to happen in the NCAA where the kids are much less mature and experienced and don't have the advisors and such available to the NFL players.
I'm looking forward to seeing Texas Pay'n 'Em have another mediocre, disappointing season, and then see some of these prized recruits bolt off to the transfer portal in search of greener fields after they rake in their NIL money at Pay'n 'Em.

The NIL might be what offsets the instability of the portal. If boosters start getting wise they'll have clauses locking players to their school or have steep penalties built in. If a company pays out NIL and builds an ad campaign around a player and that player leaves does the company have a case to recoup all losses?

"stripes" the rules say that the NIL agreements cannot be tied to schools or playing, BUT, do we really expect Jimbo and many others to play by the rules?
