The problem begins and ends with Caldwell

Sep 26, 2021, 2:33 PM

Bill Walsh could be calling plays with Tom Brady at QB and we would still be mediocre on offense. We are 1 dimensional. We cannot run the ball. Our OC and QB are handcuffed by that fact. We aren't exactly world beaters in pass blocking either. That's a recipe for disaster. Caldwell should have been fired last year after holding the best RB in Clemson history to under 1000 yards....

Our blocking scheme isn’t helping things

I would like to see us get down in a 3 point stance in an ACE set and run the ball. Teams with less OL talent than us run the ball well.

From a stars ranking stance, this team has more talent on the OL than at any time during Dabo’s tenure, but Caldwell still can’t put an average OL out there. You’re spot on on what the problem is. We’ve won inspite of Caldwell for years, with the OL always being a glaring weakness. It’s time to move on from this experiment.

Yeah, 2 weeks in a row you've faced coot level dlines at best. Worse than that, most of the time were 3 man fronts and we couldn't get any push for a running game and couldn't give DJ5 an Abundance of time in pass pro. A few times it's been almost like prevent defense.

All that said, I can't say it's all Caldwell this year. Without being privy to the play and how they're getting signals etc, I must say dj5 perhaps isn't setting the protections. Like what Tucker Israel said.

What analysis did you use to determine everyt problem is because of Caldwell? I haven't seen him miss one block all year. Is it because he is the only offensive coach that didn't play at Clemson? Maybe it's because he is the only offensive coach to coach at multiple (4) FBS schools? Did you look at what is being asked of the OL in this type offense? Did you look at whether the blocking scheme fits the talent of the OL? I'm guessing not. We all need to let the experts determine the problem and fix them.

Boy if we adapted our blocking scheme to help our OL

That would be something.

That’s some outside the box thinking sir.

Yes, he’s track record of sending OL to the NFL makes me think he’s tremendous at his job. Oh wait, there’s not many of those from Clemson on the league. I couldn’t care less if he played here or not. You can send the entire OL staff out the door with him because it seems the only legacy hire that was worth a #### was Jeff Scott, and the results since he left seem to indicate such.

While OL play can be better, but have you not watched the same games as me. The OL can block for 3sec to let DJ stare down one receiver, then decide it might be time to move in the pocket and maybe run. But not only that, the run plays are very slow, it takes Shipley forever to hit a spot, and why doesn't he ever bounce outside. Its always run into blockers, get past them and fall forward for 3-5yds. Seriously, I am 210lbs and I think I could do exactly the same, i would just be a lot more sore tomorrow. But there is zero running skill in what we are doing. Spiller used to bounce runs more than we liked, why can't he tell our RBs to hit a seem or to bounce a seem then turn uphill.

Such a frustrating season. Its like the coaches are lost and the players are following them

great players like spiller normally don't make great coaches

Sep 26, 2021, 6:12 PM

the think players should do stuff natural like they did.The best coaches were the ones that had to overcome to play by learning like Dabo & nick Saban as players

It seems pretty obvious that he needs to go. Relying on the Furman/ Sheridan coaching tree has destroyed Furman, especially on the OL. Crazy that the same tree is taking down Clemson.
