Clemson lost to a good Pitt team yesterday. They deserve every bit of the credit. Were there bad play calls at critical times? Yes. Were there terrible calls by the officials? Absolutely. But credit Pittsburgh. They took advantage of their opportunities and came up with a huge, program-changing win. Congrats to them. But I feel sorry for Wake Forest next week. Clemson still controls its own destiny in the ACC. And I believe my Tigers will win out and make the playoff.
Having said all of that, I do not believe this Clemson team will win the National Championship. There are several reasons for this. First of all, the Tigers haven't had a running game to speak of all season. You can't be a championship team if you're one-dimensional. Secondly, everybody knows that Deshaun Watson is an elite quarterback, but the head-scratching interceptions in the red zone are not getting any better. Finally, the Clemson cornerbacks have looked lost on the long ball for the last month. They are not looking back to make a play on the ball, and this is causing either big plays for the offense or (more often) drawing flags for pass interference and keeping drives alive.
It's too late in the season to be constantly struggling with these fundamentals of the game. Can the Tigers fix them? Of course they can, and I hope they do and make a liar out of me. But championship teams don't do these things, and teams like Alabama will make sure of it.
I'm not being a hater...just giving an honest late-season analysis. I hope I am VERY wrong in the end. Go Tigers.

Just get to the playoff. Anything can happen. With the way we played yesterday I would be happy with an ACC Championship and playoff appearance at this point

Carter is a player,Tank is solid.Johnson is the man..Yeah,Too many calls against them but really half of those looked like poor calls..I too believe the O=line will not allow us that Natty cause the running attack is nill.But Ill be there yelling for it to happen anyways.

I love all of them, but Tank especially is causing way too many flags. Some of them might be close calls, but when my wife comments, "Isn't that the same guy (Tank) that got all the flags the last couple of games?"
Not good when the wife is noticing these kinds of things! Something has to change for the Tigers to finish strong.

don't limit yourself to out of the backfield.... love #10 as a player, in the trenches he's a beast, but he is slow. And other teams know it.., Pitt exploited it, tight end killed us last night ...

the lines from the Bowden era and the secondary, although AT TIMES, has looked good, generally speaking look lost. Everytime the other team passes, I have to hold my breath for a flag to be thrown. And lately, it seems like that is on most plays. When you score almost 50 points, you SHOULD WIN THE GAME. Can we get it back together.....maybe. But I have serious doubts about the oline......just no leader or chemistry. Why didnt Dwat take over and pick up that first down with his feet?

Not criticizing Watson in any way, but I am wondering if Brandon Streeter mentoring him has anything to do with his preface this year....he, for some reason does not look as dynamic as last year

A supposed stable of healthy, hungry running backs who are ready to contribute; not just the Wayne Train. So why aren't they getting any yardage against decent competition? Is our OLine depth so thin that losing one FRESHMAN OL is really making a decisive difference?
It's becoming clear to me that we have some issues in that area, specifically running backs and run blocking. Are the coaches getting the potential out of the talent we've recruited? How the heck can we be so good at pass protect and pyss poor at run blocking? I don't get that, but it needs to change soon.
