Good idea, set up the P5 like the NFL

East, West, North, South, and Midwest divisions and make it geographical. This could help financially challenged schools manage travel expenses. For example, Maryland in the Big 10 has had some money troubles recently and now face the prospect of away games in California.

This could also spread the wealth like you're saying. And maybe we could put some of the emphasis back on the academics schools were started for to begin with.

I'm just saying why force schools with smaller budgets and bank accounts to travel across the country for sports? West Virginia had regrets for joining the Big 10 and having to do so much travelling. It's especially difficult in sports that play midweek games. Long midweek road trips keep student-athletes away from school longer. And most of the sports have more games, with more away games, than football.
