The NCAA needs to come down really hard on LSU

Jan 16, 2020, 12:11 PM

If they let this whole OBJ thing slide it sets a precedence that players can be openly paid by boosters with absolutely no control. That will spiral into kids only wanting to go to schools with a lot of rich alumni so they can get paid for their accomplishments. These LSU players already borderline exceeded their bowl gift allotment with the headphones. I'm not against paying players, but if we are going to pay it needs to be even across all student athletes at all schools or the larger schools are going to have a huge unfair advantage. LSU needs at a minimum a post season ban next season (it's not like they are going to make the playoffs anyways) and maybe a loss of scholarships or loss of booster contact.

If the NCAA does nothing this is the first step to boosters spiraling out of control at the bigger richer schools.

If Coach O is smart he will ban OBJ from being around the LSU program.

I'd like to agree but the pay for play thing is looming. I think they've given up as a retsul. I expect some talk but no action

I agree, it's coming

Jan 16, 2020, 12:15 PM

but there needs to be ground rules or it will hurt more schools than it helps.

You are awfully naive if you don’t believe that alumni are already slipping money to players in the major sports at practically all division 1 schools. And yes, we have been caught doing it in the past.

Re: The NCAA needs to come down really hard on LSU

Jan 16, 2020, 4:44 PM [ in reply to Re: The NCAA needs to come down really hard on LSU ]

But it was not a rule on January 13, 2019. Pay for play is still a rule violation or possibly illegal. I hope LSU gets hammered by the NCAA and the SEC. It has nothing to do because we lost. It is because of LSU’s arrogance, targeting of certain Clemson players and their dirty play. Dabo would not put up with some of LSU’s cheap shots. It’s possible OB was handing out real cash or fake cash to redeem later for going after their Clemson targets. Just make you question what went on behind the scenes at LSU!

And you have to wonder about Ed O and how quickly he turned LSU’s program around. They were average to above average for a few years. Then in 2019 they are one of the best teams in college football and now they are 2019 NC’s.

Dabo became the permanent HC after the season when TB stepped down. We did not make the playoffs until 2015. 6 or 7 years after Dabo took over. Ed O. turn LSU around and won the NC his first year. Usually there are reasons why. Most of them are usually NCAA rule violations. If that’s the case eventually some big mouth LSU player will let it slip out. If that is the case I hope the NCAA will do it job.

IMO it’s a rare accomplishment to take an average LSU team to Elite NC winners in 1 year. Makes me question what is going on at LSU. Did LSU dance with the devil to reach the top???

It’s incredibly fishy to say the least

Jan 16, 2020, 7:12 PM

Not only was LSU the best team in college football this year, but quite possibly the most prolific team in the history of college football. Just look at the records they set - especially on offense.

And in a year when the championship game was to be played in NO - a home game for them. It’s extremely fishy. But I won’t hold my breath for an investigation to be done.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah but it won't be some dude just handing out cash

Jan 16, 2020, 7:38 PM [ in reply to Re: The NCAA needs to come down really hard on LSU ]

Even in pay for play THIS would be a violation

Yeah, funny.

NCAA's a joke.

Look at the crap from the LSU AD....what an idiot...once the decided it was not fake money they were in contact with the SEC and the NCAA for damage control and because those two groups were too stupid to see the money being passed out or read Joe Burreauxs statement! We now know what kind of idiots LSU takes the rest of the country for and if you are waiting on the NCAA...good luck...LSU probably already talked with UNC to find out which A***S to kiss to climb out from under this one! Disgracing LSU was the least of OBJ's worries or ED or the AD...this is the world that they live in and a little disgrace is no price to pay for winning a NATTY! They are worried because it might make their graduation rate go down!

Interesting news New Orleans police just issued an arrest warrant for OBJ on simple battery charges for the ole smack in da ### in the locker room.

Re: The NCAA needs to come down really hard on LSU

Jan 16, 2020, 1:11 PM

I thought back in the 80s if you got caught "gifting" athletes, you could be banded from the school. There was rule sheet passed out in the season ticket package that even giving a bottle of water to HS recruits was a NCAA violation. We won't even talk about Pell's years and what went with the cigars at the end of the game.

Pell's cigars were way before smoking bans inside of buildings.

Nice thought, but the NCAA is not going to wiz on lsu/sec's parade. Too much money involved. The fake money narrative will be used to make all this go away. It's not a just world; it's just a world.

Fake Money Narrative Busted Too Many Greedy Power Hungry

Jan 16, 2020, 1:21 PM

Media cucks looking to score will keep this story alive. NCAA will have to get involved, they may let is fade out, but LSU will not escape some scrutiny. By the way Ed Orgeron is scummy, go check out his past. He ain't the aw shucks cajun clean hometown dude. Guy has faced felony charges for smackin around women. Charges dropped eventually, but not the guy I would pick to lead 18 year olds.

You’re right. Missouri is going to get the death penalty

Jan 16, 2020, 1:32 PM

For this!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If they intentionally lied about the money being fake

Jan 16, 2020, 1:35 PM

they should be punished. Otherwise, I don't see where LSU is culpable. Fortunately our NFL alumni aren't idiots like Beckham, but would it be Clemson's fault if they gave DW4 a sideline pass and then he pulled out some 100s for players after the game?

NCAA and the CFP

Jan 16, 2020, 4:01 PM

Since the NCAA does not sanction the CFP do they even have jurisdiction over what happens at the CFP games?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: NCAA and the CFP

Jan 16, 2020, 4:48 PM

In that case why were 3 of our players suspended for a year, last year? They may not control the CFP, but they still control the rules that the participants have to follow.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: NCAA and the CFP

Jan 16, 2020, 6:42 PM

I thought about that......but since the CFP is not part of the NCAA I wasn't sure how far the NCAA reach extended. I thought maybe the drug testing was routine NCAA protocol and their suspension started after the results even if there were no CFP. I don't know the answer.....that's why I asked the question.

I disagree. This is all on OBJ. LSU does however need to step up and ban his tail from player interaction in their facilities. That's my problem with this. Coach O hasn't come and said anything against him. In reality OBJ has stolen the spotlight from his players and their great moments! OBJ is me guy. Orgeron needs to set him straight publicly!!

Re: The NCAA needs to come down really hard on LSU

Jan 16, 2020, 4:56 PM

It would be ironic, but the most severe punishment might come from the NFL. The league very well might penalize OBJ for conduct detrimental to the league. Even if he comes out completely clean, it will take a few more 100's out of his wallet to do it.
