Yes he was. First I ever saw personally. But Banks McFadden predates him by a few years.

Oh yes #3 Stan the man Rome!!!

Jan 28, 2016, 6:08 AM

He was one of my all time favorite players in Clemson history. Was really hoping we would get his son Jay Rome, if he'd been a little younger I think Clemson would have landed him, once Coach Swinney turned the program around.

it was so long ago that people forget that Banks McFadden

Jan 28, 2016, 6:16 AM

was an All-American in TWO sports! that's pretty impressive!

I never got to see Coach McFadden play, but I heard

Jan 28, 2016, 8:10 AM

tales of his on the field/court exploits....few are aware that Clemson was a favorite to win the very first NCAA Tournament (won by Oregon) but of course, Coach Howard put first things first and declined to pay for sending the Tiger basketball team to the tourney.....which was held at Northwester .....and the NIT was certainly the more prestigious of the two anyhow

I know his career was more recent, but I'll give a mention to Ray Williams. He played for two legends: Danny Ford and Bill Wilhelm. I think he's the only player ever to be a four year starter in two sports for Clemson. He's in the Clemson hall of fame.

Obed Ariri? Actually, he was soccer first, then became a kicker on a tryout at Clemson. Igwebweke(sp?) as well. There are also a large group that played football and track, too many to count.

The only player that I know of from Clemson that was selected in both the NFL draft and the NBA draft was Murray Jarman, who never played football at Clemson, and was a walk on Basketball player who was invited to walk on after legendary intramural performances at Fike.

guys name was HENRY ABADI. played soccer in the early-mid 70's. in clemson's athletic HOF. had a sebastian janokowski type leg. toyed around with football a little, but he was a 7th day adventist, which pretty much meant he couldn't play on Sat.

But my father played football, basketball, and baseball at Clemson. He holds 11 varsity letters, and was SoCon athlete of the year. A member of the Clemson athletic HOF and All-Centennial Football team.

Mike Bohanok (spelling maybe wrong) played football, basketball, and baseball. I'll always remember a couple of buzzer beater shots to win two games in basketball.
