Deer FSU student who had the bright idea to bring the spirit

Oct 16, 2013, 12:26 PM

drum on the road to Clemson this weekend,

Don't count on it returning to Tallahassee in one piece, not to mention all of the other he## that is going to befall it in the midst of our tailgating crowd. Not that we're a bunch of hooligans or ne-er do wells as a rule, but mixing 80,000 rabid fans, libations, hype, emotions, you know, the typical college gameday football atmosphere, is just asking for mob rule to take over, and believe me, it will, in some form or fashion.

So don't go crying to your friends, or school officials, or alumni or what have you that a bunch of meanies at Clemson destroyed and defiled your rat-a-tat tool. It is going to happen. It requires sublime idiocy to think that you could take such a device into the belly of such a rival and not have this happen. You can count on it. Were we to transport Howard's Rock and place it at the entrance to your stadium I would expect a similar fate. Heck, it gets harmed staying right where it is. Bringing a drum, to beat in midst of your enemy, on a gameday that will be a day-long affair? Abject stupidity.

Pay the drum no attention.

Oct 16, 2013, 12:30 PM

The ride home will let them know what a bad idea it was to transport that POS to Death Valley.

I hope that the president of the university or D-Rad contact

Oct 16, 2013, 12:37 PM

FSU's president to diffuse the potential problem this may cause, by letting them know in no uncertain terms, that the drum is not welcome and will not be allowed on Clemson's campus.

FSU is setting bad precident here as they are courting trouble.

God forbid that they bring that noismaker onto Bowman during the Gameday show. Nothing good could come of it.

Maybe I'm worrying too much, but I fear that a black eye could be put on this otherwise glorious weeknd.

Has there ever been a riot on Game Day?

Oct 16, 2013, 1:34 PM

Will this be their first? Oh, goody!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bringing that drum here is, by far, the STUPIDEST

Oct 16, 2013, 12:47 PM

idea in the history of college football.

It's going to be at Y Beach..no one will know it's even here

Oct 16, 2013, 12:57 PM

Now if they drag it into town I hope it ends up in the reflection pond.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Should be plenty of Clemson fans at Y beach

Oct 16, 2013, 1:08 PM

more than enough to throw it into hartwell

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not real fans that pay the big bucks***

Re: not real fans that pay the big bucks***

Oct 17, 2013, 12:37 AM

so you have to spend thousands to be a real fan? I do, but that doesn't mean my friend, who doesn't buy Clemson tickets isn't a "real fan"

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is pretty much

Oct 16, 2013, 1:00 PM

an official version of the punk move UGA tried when we ran down the hill. It's a way to show their "swag" and try to act like they run things in our house. Didn't work to well for UGA. Let's see how the Criminoles fair

Re: This is pretty much

Oct 16, 2013, 1:06 PM

No it's not.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hope nobody vandalizes it

Oct 16, 2013, 1:08 PM

we're better than that. let them have their stuff. Vandalism isn't like a form of toughness or something

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah!

Oct 16, 2013, 1:12 PM

let's let them bring Renegade into the stadium too! Sportsmanship! Pass it on!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

maybe cu's students should give up their seats to fsu's as

Oct 16, 2013, 1:31 PM

the drum is only.....

Oct 16, 2013, 1:29 PM

Allowed at Y Beach. They said if it is spotted anywhere else that it will be removed and they won't get it back . Some guy from the CU AD said that on twitter this morning

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

fsu police said they will protect it though***

Oct 16, 2013, 1:30 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Aren't they a little out of jurisdiction?***

Oct 16, 2013, 1:36 PM

How they are slightly out of their jurisdiction.

Re: the drum is only.....

Oct 16, 2013, 1:45 PM [ in reply to the drum is only..... ]

Seems like it would get pretty annoying for Clemson fans tailgating at Y Beach. Can you preregister a noise complaint?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wise move on that call. They're way ahead of us...

Oct 17, 2013, 12:00 AM [ in reply to the drum is only..... ]

I could sense the mobs forming at the gates on this one. Nobody here wants to be a vandal but crowds are different people sometimes.

FSU police as an armed escort? What is that about. Nuts.

Go Tigers!

alright General McAuliffe lol

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I must be one of the few

Oct 16, 2013, 1:36 PM

who couldn't care less about this spirit drum. It's going to be in a parking lot, not the stadium, so it has no real bearing on the game. I do think it'd be a shame if some Clemson fans with poor/clouded judgment decided they needed to vandalize it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I doubt that will happen.

Oct 16, 2013, 5:55 PM

Doubt anyone actually has the balls to destroy. People here talk a big game, but when push comes to shove, no one will actually do anything about it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

what do you mean "the balls"

Oct 16, 2013, 5:58 PM

in what way is destroying someone else's property a tough guy thing to do?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You would risk getting arrested.***

Oct 17, 2013, 6:10 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Please don't mess with their drum. Being destructive like

Oct 16, 2013, 6:06 PM

that is not cool but shameful. Just let them tote that cumbersome "I knew we shouldn't have brought this dumb arsed gimmick cuz now we have to tote it back and, frankly, is embarrassing" gizmo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Deer FSU student who had the bright idea to bring the spirit

Oct 17, 2013, 12:07 AM

I think they should go ahead and beat it at the bottom of the Hill when the Tigers run down. Imagine the kind of ###kicking that would bring upon the noles.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't care if they bring more than

Oct 17, 2013, 12:22 AM

one stupid drum. I could not care less. In no way does that drum make me insecure. Let 'em bang it. We'll do our banging on the field.
