The difference between a good coach and Brad Brownell

Mar 9, 2014, 9:03 AM

A good coach like Jamie Dixon had his team doing the things it needed to do to have a chance to win the game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

only poor coaches go from being picked 14th to finishing

Mar 9, 2014, 9:11 AM

6th in the ACC...

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Re: only poor coaches go from being picked 14th to finishing

Mar 9, 2014, 9:18 AM

wws, a coach like Martin ? Yeah, that's real class there.

Martin?

Mar 9, 2014, 9:30 AM

What does he have to do with my statement?

A good coach can win games with a decent talent level. Brownell is better than just a good coach. He finished 6th in the ACC and was a few OT losses to a berth in the NCAA tourney w a team that should have been a bottom feeder.

Let's not bash the coach, I think he has done a great job this year.

Mar 9, 2014, 9:32 AM

You are an idiot with a keyboard who obviously knows nothing about sports. Go call your mom, she might find your gibberish of interest.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sick of the talent excuse.

Mar 9, 2014, 9:37 AM

If we have no talent, who is at fault?

Let's see, hmmmm, could it be the Head Coach?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Sick of the talent excuse.

Mar 9, 2014, 9:47 AM

How long has he been here? How much support does the team get? I know you are upset because it's only a matter of minutes before a bully dunks your head in the toilet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you have to give him a few years to get his players

Mar 9, 2014, 10:14 AM [ in reply to Sick of the talent excuse. ]

into the system

Re: The difference between a good coach and Brad Brownell

Mar 9, 2014, 9:39 AM

WWS--You obviously are not a real Clemson fan. If Brad Brownell had the talent that Pitt's coach had, he would have had his team stomping Pittterday. You must not perceive that fact.

Coach Dixon gave me the perception of Dean Smith of yesteryear in the game. He complained about every call that did not favor Pitt. He could have been Tee'd up several times but the refs were generous with his rants.
I think Clemson learned a big lesson yesterday. Sometimes you gain more in a close loss than you would have by winning.

We surely snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A real Clemson fan.

Mar 9, 2014, 9:43 AM

A real Clemson fan finds it not acceptable to squander games like yesterday with a poorly Coach team at the end of the game.

A real Clemson fan finds it not acceptable to accept losing to the Coots five years in a row in football and the pathetic recent history in baseball to the Coots.

Yes, I am a Real Clemson fan.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As a REAL Clemson fan

Mar 9, 2014, 9:45 AM

Who would you hire to replace him?

Don't say Greg Marshall or Shaka Smart cause then I know you're an idiot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pago to hire

Mar 9, 2014, 9:46 AM

Bruce Pearl

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who to hire

Mar 9, 2014, 9:47 AM

Bruce Pearl

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bruce Pearl? A walking NCAA investigation.

Mar 9, 2014, 9:49 AM

Credibility and intelligence has surfaced.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The Dude had a cookout

Mar 9, 2014, 9:54 AM

Yes, he lied about it. But that was it. No payoffs, no illegal visits, no gifts, etc...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

so a coach that made how many straight nc2a tourneys

Mar 9, 2014, 10:11 AM

got fired for having a cookout?

no really?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pearl was already on thin ice when he invited

Mar 9, 2014, 10:14 AM [ in reply to The Dude had a cookout ]

several recruits and their parents over to his house for a bbq which WAS an impermissable gift. When NCAA investigators began sniffing around again, Pearl lied to them, lied to his AD, and called the visiting parents and asked them to lie to NCAA investigators.

wws

Mar 9, 2014, 9:53 AM

the coot website called they want their handle back

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: wws

Mar 9, 2014, 9:56 AM

You guys just cannot handle rational statements.

I guess you are one of those "real Clemson fans" who accept losing to the Coots.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

uh, all we had to do is inbound the ball and we win

Mar 9, 2014, 9:55 AM

that's a pretty good position to win the game

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Timeout

Mar 9, 2014, 9:57 AM

Brownell had a timeout, he did not use, could have thrown long.

Sorry guys, that loss is on him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no, I was at the game, Brownell was furiously trying

Mar 9, 2014, 10:11 AM

to call a timeout but the ref wouldn't give it to him, He literally was jumping around the court trying to get his attention. That's on the ref to not know that there's a good chance the timeout would be called and be watching for it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Even the greatest of leaders will stumble at times. Always

Mar 9, 2014, 9:58 AM

have; always will.

The important question is whether or not we have achieved more this year than most expected? Most, including you, WWS, I believe would answer that affirmatively.

The next step is to continue our support and encouragement.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed

Mar 9, 2014, 10:02 AM

Yes, I do agree with your statement.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Mar 9, 2014, 10:10 AM

I see we have found another idiot on this board. Welcome

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

like bitching to refs every minute of the game??? Big east

Mar 9, 2014, 10:14 AM

style.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You mean like that fine job Dixon did coaching vs. NC State?

Mar 9, 2014, 10:40 AM

Or against Boston College?

Or his team's massacre at the hands of Duke?

All against schools your so-called inferior Brad Brownell managed to win this year. But your statement that Pitt's ability to win in the clutch with three redshirt seniors in the starting lineup vs. our guys ... none of whom have seen a winning ACC season before this year ... somehow implicates Brownell as an inferior coach is beyond laughable.

Re: You mean like that fine job Dixon did coaching vs. NC State?

How about the fine job Dixon did vs Brownell?

You might be the biggest idiot on this board to argue that point.

Re: The difference between a good coach and Brad Brownell

Mar 9, 2014, 10:43 AM

Meanwhile Martin continues to suck

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The difference between a good coach and Brad Brownell

Mar 9, 2014, 11:10 AM

our program was at least a 4-5 year project when Martin took over... hard to blame it on him at this point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

like working the refs the entire game whenever a call went

Mar 9, 2014, 3:51 PM

against them

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Re: The difference between a good coach and Brad Brownell

Mar 9, 2014, 3:51 PM

Are you crazy? Pittsburgh's coach had his team mugging us and the refs didn't call it. I doubt if there is any more physical team than we played yesterday and we still should have won the game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The difference between a good coach and Brad Brownell
