The delusion runs deep in the dirtpeckers....

Oct 27, 2015, 9:57 AM

Talked with (2) different coot friends and asked them about Spurrier quitting on them. BOTH said that he did it for the team and to allow a coaching search to start early. One went on to say how much Spurrier cares for his players and that all of his former players love him. I told him that most people saw Spurrier as a quitter who just gave up and cared for no one except himself. As for players I asked him what he thought Clownboy or Wilds thought of the OBS. He replied that Vagaveon loves Spurrier.

It got worse the deeper we got into the beer...

As a friend of mine said, "They're too stupid to know that they got pooped on." Oddly, I'm more mad at Spurrier for walking out on them than they are. I guess I was just really looking forward to kicking his butt again.

sooner line." Steve could have announced his resignation (he didn't retire, lets get that part straight now) then taken his lumps the rest of the year. Now, if Tanner wanted to get Elliot a shot at running the team, then say that is what it is. BUT if they wanted to see what Elliot could do, that suggest the are not the draw they hope to be.

Let's forget the Coots since they & team are losers!

Nuff said. Yep, they won some good games over a 5 year period but that was then and this is now..and it may be years b/4 they get their program up & running as smoothly as ours has under "that silly little kid named DaBO who can't coach or win the big game" (according to Coots).

LOL & GoTiGERS..keep ROCKing!

Bowden to Dabo move. Difference is, almost all Clemson fans were ready to see Tommy move on. Back then, I'm not sure how much leverage we had in the lure coaches away department either. Lucky for us it worked out.

Of course we allowed him to step away with his dignity and get paid a bit, but we didn't allow him the platform of doing it for the team or any other such nonsense.

conversation was he said that Spurrier won 5 of 6 from Clemson. My response was "so Carolina football began 6 years ago"...he said for him it did!!!! Summed up their program and delusion quite nice.

You can dress it up any way you want, but Spurrier was simply tired of losing and didn't want to face the rest of the year and the potential losses.

If he had the stomach for it, I can't imagine it wouldn't have been better to stick it out, announce your leaving at the end of the year and play nice with the school for recruiting by ensuring a transition with his "approval".

It seems a lot easier to pitch to recruits that you know it's time to move on, but that you're helping pick your successor (even if it's only coach speak) in order to stabilize recruiting.

At least the coots I talk to are, unfortunately, family.

Too Stupid to understand

Slurrier could have finished out the year AND Tanner could have still hired a PR firm to search for the next HC. Both could have happened at the same time.

But , they are right,Slurrier will come around to being loyal to USuC. It's the only place he's ever coached where he will still be considered the BIG Chicken ,so to speak. Cutciffe has surpassed him at Duke ,Meyer surpassed him at Florida, no one will EVER surpass at USuC.

They need to read Spurrier's book: It's Always Too Soon to Quit: The Steve Spurrier Story
