The Clemson Family

Oct 23, 2019, 5:50 PM

"The Clemson Family" has several connotations but I've never heard much about the fact that "The Clemson Family" includes every member of the family from small babies in arms to great-grandparents. We see them at every home game. Small children have always been a large part of crowds at Clemson home games.

During my younger years my wife and I, along with our two daughters, attended many away and bowl games. The crowds at many of the away games we attended were mostly college age and older adults. There were very few young children in attendance. Most of the young children there were with their Clemson parents or other family members.

Not having attended away games in recent years, does the lack of small children at some of the other schools still hold true?

Wake Forest is about the only opponent I've visited where I can recall seeing small children (and also about the only environment where I'd feel comfortable taking small children).

Introduce your kids to Clemson Football when they are young. We began taking our 3 kids when sellouts were rare. We bought 2 season tickets and seldom sat in our seats. We sat together as a family on the hill and bought reduced rate tickets for the kids. Now all three are season ticket holders, we have 2 grandchildren who are graduates, 2 more who are students, two others who attended other colleges but attend Tiger games. Start them young, it gets in their blood.

I always thought it was interesting that Penn State had (has?) a children's section where all the kids would sit without parental supervision. Seemed a testament to a good family environment. After their events of recent years, it just seems kinda creepy.
