I stand corrected.

Every year I have emphatically stated on here that there's in no way in hell that the CFP committee would include any team that lost on Championship Saturday. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you 2020.

My thoughts have been that the CFP was designed to find the best TEAM, period. The CCG games should be considered defacto-elimination games. That's why the Big12 added theirs back, because they were being overlooked by having one less game.

Look at it this way, say you have a pool of about 7-8 teams that can arguably say are contenders at the end of the regular season. If two of them play each other 11 days before the semis, you no longer need to question which one of those two are better. If the loser was better, then they should have won. The loser should be out, period.

Now, I can understand considering a one loss team that didn't get to play in a CCG.

Instead of expanding the CFP to more than 4 teams, the CCG's should be treated as I said, officially. For the independents, they should schedule a game that weekend for the two highest ranked independent teams. Perhaps the Group of 5 could do the same, and forgo their CCG. Then you'd have a clear G5 candidate, and a clear Indy candidate and the five P5 champs. The CFP selection should be limited to those 7, unless a CCG winner has 2 loses, in which case a 1-loss non-CCG participate could be considered.

Has anyone heard why the committee thought Ohio St. was included in the Final Four ? It certainly wasn't strength of schedule.

The CFP has become exactly what it was meant to replace.

Dec 20, 2020, 2:01 PM

The BCS had become a giant beauty contest base on smaller beauty contests, totally subjective, full of bias. The CFP had clear criteria that was supposed to get us away from all of that, yet here we are. The CFP has become a total sham. It is entirely subjective. they are picking the teams they "think" are the "best". I just heard a brain-dead moran idiot ESPN talking head proclaim, "Well, at the end of the day, it worked again. We got the 4 best teams!". Really? Am I the only one that sees the farce that is taking place? Are these guys really this dumb, or are they in on it? Do they think we're that stupid?
