The Biggest Issue with expansion is

Jan 12, 2022, 1:57 PM

The health of the players by adding 3 more games. Heck they are beat up after the regular season then adding 4 more games, that would be brutal.

That is why this should be a structure of college football discussion not just playoff expansion. 12 game min with a 15 game max is the current structure. No reason we can't get to a better playoff model without breaking that structure.

Really easy imo. Cancel one pic game, make your home state fcs game a pre season scrimmage where fans can attend and school gets paid. So that's 11 games, 1 scrimmage and possible 4 playoff games. Everything else stays the same. A lot of teams only have 3 ooc games anyway.

A nine game regular season and a 64 game playoff which is a max of 15 games for the top two teams. I would also have a 2nd 64 game playoff for the tier II teams (think NIT).

Everyone who is anyone would get to participate in a playoff of sorts. I would make the first three rounds at the home field of the lower seeded team to invite parity meaning the 33-64 seeds would host the first round at their stadium.

What I don’t get why can 15-17 year old kids play 16 games, 22-30+ play 20 game for championship but

I’d an 18-22 year old plays 15 or 16 game it is too hard for them?

12 regular season games are here to stay. All teams are counting on the income.

Conference championship games are here to stay. The conferences want the money generated, pus with over sized conferences how else do you determine the conference champ.

Byes don't work. It works ok in BB, but it is a huge advantage in football. Guess who will get the byes every year. Remember 2017 'bamer didn't play in the sec champ game, they essentially got a bye.

In the CFP era, which teams 5-8, or 5-16, would have won it all. I would say zero, so why expand other than $$ for espn, the ncca, and some coaches bonus for making it to the playoffs.

Currently we have a playoff of 130 teams. To quote Dabo, "win and you're in."

I played 15 games one season in high school with no bye weeks

And we were all wishing there was some kind of national tournament to keep going. There’s is no health risk outside of the normal “football is a dangerous sport” stuff. Take the regular season down to 10 games and expand the playoffs if health is the main concern…. Which it isn’t. The loss of home games and the loss of normal bowl games is the real reason.
