The Battle Between Georgia And Clemson Is Not Really On The Gridiron ---

May 5, 2021, 2:19 AM

The battle is going to be in the parking lots and grassy patches during tailgating. Got to be the best 2 tailgating experiences in the South as far as cuisines goes for these 2 programs. Lots of beef and ...etc...to spread around in Charlotte on that day for sure.

The biggest battle will be, the Charlotte Police finding enough Jail space to detain those rednecks from the fuzzy state of Jawga. That will be biggest battle of the week for the Charlotte Police ;)

Been to many of their games through the years, and I never went to one in which there was not a fight in the stands or in the parking lot. Always started by the very lowest class fans dressed in red and black. I live in GA, and yes, they do have some very successful and classy fans, too, but the also seem to have more of the classless fans than anywhere else I’ve been, and I’ve been to many, many campuses.

Have to say from personal experience, Jawja fans are

pretty obnoxious, win or lose. Maybe even moreso when they win. But, South Carolina rednecks can match them ### for tat if necessary, which it usually is.

Point well taken! +1 Thankfully, we don't have many of them down here.

It's often said that it is bad to wish bad things for people, but when people will trash someone's property like that, it makes me wish that a trash truck would dump a packed truck right at their door steps!!!!

Comments are interesting on here. I have been to Athens several times over the years in full CU gear and never had an issue. IMO fans in Columbia and Raleigh are a million times worse.

Did you ever go to Athens in the early 1980's?

I was there in 1980 and 1982 . First experience their fans paraded in front of the Clemson student group and pointed up to various people in the stands and called them down to fight . In 82 we were on a sidewalk in Clemson gear walking toward stadium and a Cadillac with open windows pulled up on the sidewalk making all 5 us jump out of the way . Their windows were open and they wore 5 large cups of beer to the game . Worst was at Fulton county in 81 where five of them sat behind us at Braves opener . One of them ran their mouth for first four innings and next thing 4 with me were in an all out brawl . Their 5th jumped over the seat on one of the guys who was already engaged . I grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him off and told him to knock it off or I would .... somebody has to bail them out. Security broke it up and fortunately didn’t cart us out . Three of their guys went for stitches. Haven’t been back there since.

I have to agree about the NCSU and SCar fans.

Maryland and LSU fans rank up there, too.

The one game between Clemson and UGa that I attended (Tommy West era), some UGa grads/fans got us tickets. They got them in the student section. I, of course, asked them why they wanted to torture me like that. Their very serious reply, "You will be safer there."

They were correct!!! I learned my lesson about Athens with only One trip, and I've never been what some call a quick learner. That should say a lot about how through their lessons are!!!

I can't imagine there will be too much serious tail gaiting in Charlotte over Labor Day. Standing on concrete in a parking lot in 100 degree weather doesn't sound like fun. When I last attended this game in 2019 when UNC faced UofSC, most fans packed the bars, restaurants and hotel lobbies surrounding the stadium for the pre game festivities.

It was a 3:30pm game and people sitting on the sunny side were fainting in droves.
