Tuesday......not today. Clarification.

Tomorrow we should break 2,000 cases, and then some because they catch up on Fridays with numbers to take the weekend off, or some states do. Others dump more on Mondays. Friday or Monday will be worse.

That’s the stats I want to see now to see if the vaccine is really working at the 94% efficacy that they said.

We don't count a breakthrough case until they check into a

hospital bed. Based on information from across the pond, I'd guestimate 20% are vaccinated, maybe a little more. BUT, of that 20%, few will end up in a hospital bed, maybe 1 in 10 tops, and fewer in ICU, and even fewer will die. Majority are unvaccinated, and about 20% of them will end up in a hospital bed, depending on age.
Freaky stat is 80-something percent of people in ICU in either Missouri or Mississippi (forget) are on vents. You have a greater than 50/50 chance of going on a vent if you're admitted to an ICU, which is a big jump from the past. When hospitals get really crushed, they become sources of data that we don't see otherwise.
More interesting will be watching the fight between Delta and AY.3. AY.3 has won Mississippi basically. But it's a dead heat in Missouri. Delta's slightly ahead there. Still think we see far less deaths when compared to cases. Don't freak out if cases hit records. Watch hospitalizations. 557 across SC right now (Thanks HHS, screw u DHEC). Up from 400-something yesterday and 300-something the day before. Going up about 80 or so a day. I think peak hospitalizations in SC was around 2200ish, so we're still in decent shape, but might not be for long. But the break between cases and hospitalizations seems to be about the same ballpark as the past wave, so far.

Vaccinated, unvaccinated. Sick, not sick. They ALL count towards herd immunity, which is where cases drop.

Here's where I pretend to zero knowledge, I kick back and listen to those like you who actually obviously really do.
We lost, what, 600K+ the first wave. Where do you see Wave 2 winding up in terms of deaths? Similar? More? Or is it going to hit a wall and peter out?
I did notice the UK - which is trending a few weeks ahead of us - did seem to hit some sort of wall and cases seemed to surprisingly start dropping. Might that happen here or is our vax resistance going to preclude that?

So one year of covid with zero data under Trump was less infectious than 1 year under O’Biden with more data and 3 different vaccines?
Huh?

To borrow a joke from a comedian (don’t recall which one)…why not just teach the JW’s to administer the vaccine…they were going to your house anyway.

I think there is simply so much that our health officials don't know about COVID as it is such a fluid situation, but I agree with Tiggity, you rarely hear our higher echelon officials discuss with the American public what is already known in Israel, the UK and Brazil. We don't expect to have all the answers as they simply don't know, but I think the American people deserve to know what these officials do in fact know based on COVID elsewhere.

I noticed this today. New infection rates heat map. Check out the correlation between state vaccination rates and new cases. Pretty telling.
