TNET: It's rivalry week: Every game means something, so spot the dang ball

It's rivalry week: Every game means something, so spot the dang ball

It’s rivalry week in the state of South Carolina and it’s time to get excited. No. 3 Clemson has breezed through its schedule over the last several weeks and has one regular-season game remaining – at South Carolina this weekend. Kickoff is set for noon Saturday on ESPN. For those of us here at TigerNet, this is the best time of the year (especially recently.) Full Story »

Great memory DHood! Thanks for sharing

The 2013 game is one I’ll never forget - and still lives in infamy (for me) - because I and many others are in total agreement with you and Coach Brooks that it shouldn’t have happened. I think that made all the ‘5 bombs’ even more annoying, dare I say infuriating?

Safe travels to the game!

GO TIGERS!!!

Great article! To correct a minor technicality, Clemson didn’t host Georgia in ‘86; that was my freshman year and we won 31-28 on a long David Treadwell field goal in Athens. I grew up a Georgia fan, so that was the rivalry that was important to me. I had to learn to hate the Gamecocks (it wasn’t difficult and I was a quick study)!

The 2013 game was the most frustrating game of football...

Nov 25, 2019, 9:17 AM

...I've ever watched. Adam Humphries and his 2 muffed punts...I almost threw a chair through a window that night.

6 Tiger turnovers in that game. Even Steve Spurrier couldn't understand why that happened.

Yep - I believe it was after that game Spurrier commented to the effect that “...Clemson is a really good team ... Don’t know why but they just don’t play well against us “. Well ... soooo glad that tide has turned !! -<img border=">

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

This is the game my wife always refers back to when explaining why we don’t watch football games with family members any more. The peak of my college football frustrations, for sure.

Go Tigers!

ESPN didn't include the Palmetto Bowl in its list of rivalries this week. The only explanation for that is a serious lack of respect for that Columbia institution.

The writer does say "Let's take a chronological walk through this year's most interesting games." Playing the Columbia Biddies doesn't qualify as interesting except in the abstract way of "How bad will it get?"

Tigers did not host GA in 1986.***

You are correct, sir

My first game in the Valley was as a freshman in the fall of 1985 against the dawgs. As frustrating as that day was, it was just as thrilling to watch David Treadwell kick FGs the next 2 years to win the game.

Being it's Joe21® 's 98th birthday, I have to give you your due, davidhood® , that was a very Joe-esque (and Mr. Foster) quality article.

Oh...and 'the beater'...that is such a Wisconsin term...LOL! So apropos!

Go Tigers...keep the articles coming, Mr. Hood. (Had no clue you are so young!).

of #### fans.

By far the most frustrating Clemson/USC game I've been to.

Close 2nd was 2006 Jad Dean miss w/tammy and roberta taking Reggie out of the game on the final drive after getting us down to the 9 yard line....

"Clemson has been historically better than Carolina. That's pretty obvious." - Classof09

"No one knew we were overhyped until the season started." - Classof09
