I think the Clemson brand made a big impression this weekend. I’ve thought all along we would get Terrell but I get the feeling some of these guys like Terrell and Vizzinna are starting to try to build their team. By committing now it might help bring some of the others that visited this weekend on board. Commits are some of the best recruiters you can have.

Just like Strozier said it’s about to heat up, peoples first mistake was thinking Dabo couldn’t change. He will change like he needs to but only in his way. The best is yet to come and I truly believe that. You don’t build Clemson into what Dabo has and just let it fall apart.

Guessing you missed our recruiting last year where we gave scholarships to several walk on level players. I am hoping the big issue was the lack of on-campus recruiting during the covid overreaction but the fact we got a commitment from a really good legacy recruit today does not change the narrative.

The narrative hasn’t changed for a lot of us. We got some big time recruits last year. Several of the scholarships given to the players you describe as walk on level opened up because we had a lot of players transfer out because they weren’t going to see the field in a Clemson uniform. So we traded 3rd and 4th stringers for walk on level guys. But those who live to complain will always find a reason.

We had some late departures but had no backup plan which is unacceptable if we want to continue to be a playoff team. So for the other dufus who does not understand the conversation this has nothing to do with trusting the coaches. It has everything to do with paying attention and making an honest assessment of the situation. It was great that we added a really good player today but we need about 22 more to fill our roster with quality players. For the dense crowd i hope the issue is the lack of on-campus recruiting the last two years which is our bread & butter but lets see how this fills out before we start the celebration.

jstone, you speak the truth. We all see this through orange glasses, but we do need to make some adjustments.
These are a couple of good commitments - and hopefully we have some more good ones coming, out of the weekend. But it feels (in terms of numbers) we're a little bit behind in the cycle. And that follows the past year's loss of some major commitments, when BV left.
Assuming he'll be a great on-field coach (which is admittedly a leap of faith with a DC who hasn't previously been an on-field coach), the big test for Wes Goodwin will be his ability to recruit.
Nobody WANTS our recruiting to drop off, but fears of that are not unreasonable, given the staff changes. And the lack of using the portal to shore up weak areas. (Danny Pearman is paid $250,000 for us to sign one grad-transfer QB who already played at Clemson? Now that's a great gig if you can get it.)
Yes, Dabo has earned our confidence. But there is a lot that has to go right, to stay where we've been. The most objective loyal fan can look at the coming couple of seasons and feel like there are a lot of question marks. Our defense will keep us in games all this season, but if 2022 resembles 2021, how are we going to feel going into 2023, with some major losses on the defensive side of the ball?

You do realize we have 6, count them six, 4 star recruits already committed. That is more than all but 2 other programs the real USC, and ND. We are 3rd in average star rating and 12th overall. And it is still really early in the game for 2023.
But woe is us. ??

That isn't debatable if you believe recruiting rankings.
The good news is that we are still getting good players, and have a lot to sell:
-Best facilities in college football
-Lots of Clemson players in the NFL
-Elite seasons in the not-too-distant past
-A coach that is well-liked
-A school that is known to support the football program very well
The great recruiting news today is very encouraging. Here's to lots more good news soon!
