I appreciate you guys subsidizing us and then moving down

here at the first convenient opportunity for lower taxes, less regulation and better weather. Guess we can now add tailgating to the list of reasons to move.

Texas is where they are headed. Cali leads the nation in one way U-Haul rentals. State is a shizz show. Not sure how they subside anyone when they consistently operate in the red.

How so? South Carolina is one of the most federally dependant states.

Jan 4, 2023, 4:57 PM

See 29% to like 31% not much difference. Looks like every state receives Fed dollars.

The way I read it you said Cali was subsidizing SC. Hell a lot of the blue states up north was getting more than SC.

Yes, every state receives federal dollars, but some receive more than they give. It has to be that way because the money comes from the states to begin with.

And yes, some of those are blue states. It just cracks me up when people act like California is some ########, but red states have it all together.

Subsidizes??? In what way? Most of the South Carolinians I know (including myself) are pretty daggum self-sufficient.

I'm talking about the amount of money SC gets from the fed vs what it gives. We use more than we create in SC.

PioneerG,

In this case (as in many) the greedy capitalists are making decisions that benefit them at the cost to everyone else by trying to force people to buy their non-competitive, gouging prices inside their stadium. The state has nothing to do with it.

Re: Thats why you dont have events in worthless liberal states***

Jan 4, 2023, 5:52 PM

For what it’s worth, the SoFi Stadium owner, Stan Kroenke is a Republican.

This is the policy at Dodger Stadium too. I found that out the hard way years ago.

It’s about green, not blue or red. Getting people inside to buy their booze and food is the whole reason. The worst part is that there really aren’t any options yet within walking distance and the surrounding neighborhood is sketchy.

Nonetheless, let the selective outrage continue…

Jan 4, 2023, 9:17 PM [ in reply to Re: Thats why you dont have events in worthless liberal states*** ]

though I take exception to the ding on capitalism, I agree with Tobi. Football games, concerts... they are rip offs and the ones ripping us off have no incentive to do differently as people, thousands of people at any given event, will shell it out for tickets, t-shirts, beer and nachos. It really is pretty pathetic, but the entertainment industry is a beast we created. They do this in socialist countries too.

Why is it that, regardless of the social media/platform, there’s always somebody who feels compelled to make a political comment about whatever the subject may be . . . And I don’t really care on which side of the political spectrum that your beliefs fall! Good gracious folks!

It’s California. What do you expect? We went to the 2018/19 championship game in Santa Clara and we’ve been to Napa a couple of times, but I don’t really see myself going back.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Trying to imagine just how that might be enforced...

Jan 4, 2023, 3:32 PM

Especially if a lot of folks decide to ignore that rule...

What's the definition of tailgating? If you don't bring a truck that has a tailgate are you OK?

If you are just standing there eating some Taco Bell you picked up on the way to the game?

If you are standing next to someone...does that person have to have arrived in the same vehicle?

I've been reading construction permitting depositions and petitions all day...so...what's what there?

actually, good point Viz. However, do students from each school get tickets? If they do, I wonder if they can sell them, or do they have to have a student ID to enter with them?

But what an awful decision, it probably ruins that venue's future college football business.

This thread show the ignorance of the new stadium. Most parking is off site and you are bused in. An excellent set up for the games and takes care of traffic problems. We parked for several games in an excellent parking garage and then took the shuttle. You would not tailgate in a garage. The on site parking is for lodge holders only. They eat in their suite

Re: No tailgating allowed at the National Championship Game

Jan 4, 2023, 9:11 PM

I read this article. There are several ways to spin it but as for a championship game that is really nowhere near the primary fan base if either school, does it really matter? How many folks are going to pack up their tents, generators projectors and the like on the plane getting them there and back?

As far as ripping off the fans, this happens even where there is tailgating. Tickets are expensive, drinks and snacks are expensive, t-shirts and caps are expensive... it's not a value proposition unless you make it a memory making event w family or friends.
