This is a collapse. To suck this bad with

Sep 25, 2021, 11:25 PM

All this talent is inexcusable. I’m thankful for the run and glad I got to see it but dreading the week to week worries of trying to beat wake forest and bc. Oof.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That’s the most confusing part.

Sep 25, 2021, 11:28 PM

I think we all expected a down year at some point, but I think we all thought it meant a 1-2 loss season where we barely missed out on the playoffs, not a complete train wreck like we seem to have this year.

It’s hard to believe we went from the playoffs last year to this.

Nailed it. It is the most astonishing part.

The hard part to swallow is just falling completely off the map.

Correct. I thought the down year would be competent play and coaching with some kind of major injury bug or a couple of flukey loses. I think we have seen this coming with the offensive scheme though. That being said it takes allot to align to be this bad with this talent.

Yea it’s actually the worst I’ve seen a Clemson offense in over 20 years. It’s actually pitiful! Dabo better fix it and quick. He said they don’t stink. He’s right there worst than stink

I never expected the offense to struggle like this! I mean the offense is the worst I’ve seen going back before tommy Bowden The D is doing there job!

Meh, Dabo built the program he deserves the opportunity to run it into the ground.

Sep 25, 2021, 11:31 PM

College football as a whole is about to implode so enjoy it while you can I guess.

Unfortunately I agree with the implode part. Transfer portal and NIL will destroy the sport eventually.

I didn't want it to implode because of horrible coaching, I expected a collapse from outside like the NIL but never thought Dabo would let us be atrocious?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One good OC could turn it around in a month.

Sep 25, 2021, 11:32 PM

Even with a brand new scheme.

I don't know seems more like a structural thing...

Sep 25, 2021, 11:37 PM

Refusing to take transfers, a lot of the other stuff they've pretended they're too good for, it's finally caught up, and its going to be hard to find new a new OC for a program that puts itself in handcuffs.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yeah, the portal issue HAS to change

Sep 25, 2021, 11:40 PM

It's like refusing to eat with a fork at a restaurant because you bring your own. I mean, ok... It just makes things harder on you.

Sep 25, 2021, 11:47 PM [ in reply to I don't know seems more like a structural thing... ]

I don’t understand the fascination with transfers as the problem. Staleness and stubbornness, absolutely. I don’t see how adding a castoff at any position would fix the problems we are actually having.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because an experienced cast-off is a better ball player than a high school kid

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

100% agree … decent teams can add a couple/few transfers

Sep 26, 2021, 1:15 AM

and get to really good. We aren'tgoing hit on everyone and will have weak spots that need to be filled. If we only do it via recruiting them we’re falling behind to that will address weaknesses via the portal.

I’m not even talking about qb bc luckily Taison had a miracle recovery but apparently will never get the opportunity, which is another discussion… but you don’t think a couple of seasoned OL would have helped this team ? I don’t see how that could be a bad thing at all to push guys .. that group needs to be pushed any means necessary

Do you think Clemson would would get rid of one of their own? It would be certainly be awkward.
If you want an infusion of new blood on offense, you have to hope he receives and accepts a head coaching opportunity.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I predict that Dabo will tell Elliott privately between now

Sep 25, 2021, 11:45 PM

and the end of the season that he has to take another job elsewhere. That will allow Elliott to save face publicly and hopefully be able to further his career while allowing Dabo to make the change that is sorely needed.

I would be shocked if Elliott were fired.

Problem is Elliott's stock is plummeting now

Sep 25, 2021, 11:52 PM

I honestly think Trevor, Deshaun, and Jeff Scott made up for a lot of his weaknesses and made him look a lot better than he is.

My thoughts as well.

Thinking like that is what kills a program...

Sep 25, 2021, 11:46 PM [ in reply to Re: One good OC could turn it around in a month. ]

Tony Elliott gets left at a Raleigh bus station on an elite program. Clemson worries if it might be awkward to fire the worst OC in the game.
