The few guys we have talked with/looked at in the portal seem to have already pretty much chosen their destination by the time we even contact them. If we’re going to take advantage of it, we have to be much more aggressive. Wonder how well the people we have evaluating the portal are doing their job(s)? Seems like this needs a guy like Wes (not Wes but an analytical football nerd) to be doing it and I’m not sure that’s who we have. New world for sure

Dabo has built the Clemson program with a culture of integrity. I would want and expect no less. I'm ALL IN ALL THE TIME with Dabo ---- win or lose. Let's do it the right way. The right players will respect and join us.

There need to be enforced rules to keep coaches from recruiting players who are actively playing for another team. It's been happening since the portal became a reality.

"Analyst" are actively recruiting 2nd team players. It won't change even if they get busted by the NCAA.
If UNCheat doesn't get punished for their academic cheating, then this sort of thing won't.

Is it because Dabo and company have ethics?
They don't talk to another schools student-athlete until they are no longer enrolled! Which as you said, "maybe making us late to the party"!
If there is going to be language in getting some type of control over the transfer portal - "Tampering" will almost surely be a part of it.
Building your roster off players you induce to leave their present team is "slimy"!
Now, a kid who maybe wanted Clemson coming out of H.S. but went where mom said instead of following their hear - that wanted to come here - "allow that kid to come here"!
But, they would because they know about Clemson and everything it's about from the recruiting process!
I have no idea if that's why or not; just me speculating. But, tampering with other people's players is "icky and under-the-table" and not something I can see Dabo engaging in. If that means we lose; we might be losing for a while in regards to the portal and getting desired players.

I by no means think we should talk to a kid before he announces but if someone is not monitoring the portal and reaching out almost immediately, we are in trouble. The All PAC 12 OL from Cal that we reached out to a day or so ago just went to Oklahoma the next day. I do t think BV is tampering but he sure as heck beat us to the punch

They are monitoring the portal....Coach Dabo has said as much.

And they will not rush into an offer without evaluating a player. If a player we might like chooses within a couple of days, you can all but guarantee they knew where they were going before they announced they were in the portal.

Something will have to be done. The Alliance should be good for something--addressing this issue seems to fall within their announced principles.

When did "we" join the coaching staff? You are not old enough to remember the Greyhound commercials where they said "Sit back and leave the driving to us" but that should apply to coaching our team too.

It's not late to the party, it's by design. That's the way they want it so at the end of the year Dabo can say we tried but they went out to places. Then we get to hear we got what we got speech again and just how hard all these Walk-Ons have worked and busted their tail. Sad thing is we'll still win the ACC with what we have. Well I guess that's not a sad thing it's actually a good thing.

When a player after going into the portal announces his choice the next one or two days I would guess tampering occurred. That player did not give himself time to look over the interested schools but already had been tampered with. College sports unfortunately has become much more corrupt than even before. Throw in Nil and it’s even worst. Now many of the best are going for the monetary benefits. A program of integrity like Dabos is going to suffer. The interest in the sport will go down as the winner will always be the one who bought and paid for the best team
