a few random thoughts from the exhibition

1) impressed with the new Tigers
Collins looks solid, confident with the ball - nice touch on his FTs. good form, but a slow release, on 3's
Shiefflein - this kid could be really good. looked comfortable on the floor and has some offensive skills. (13 pts in less than 12 minutes last night) hope to see him and Hall on the court at the same time a lot this season
Bohannan - nothing flashy last night, but should be a solid reserve. again, nice touch at the FT line
Beadle - also has skills with the ball, can create his own shot. a little rough around the edges.
2) a long bench... we could see 10 or 11 guys getting minutes
3) no shortage of guys who can handle the ball and look comfortable bringing it up the court
4) Hall opened the game with a nice little jump hook in the lane... would love to see him do that with consistency this year. he scored from everywhere; dunks, 3, mid-range jumpers from the FT line area. he may be hard to defend with his inside-outside ability

Thanks. Good summary. Beadle, time to grow through the season. He got a little sloppy at the end and had some turnovers.

Did Middlebrooks get some PT last night? When I saw team picture, I thought he looked pretty filled out standing next Hall. That surprised me given that he reclassified.

he played about 10 min.
grabbed a couple of rebounds and got a couple of fouls.
didn't make much of an impression, good or bad..
he was the 5th guy off the bench

points are good. KNowing your handle & posts you obviously know the game. What do you think what you saw last night will translate to against conference and better OOC competition?

the comfort i saw in different guys bringing the ball up the court should bode well for many situations; this team shouldn't be bothered much by pressure defense
i am concerned about the interior defense.. the 'bigs' on the opposing team last night were smaller (and maybe quicker) that what we will see in the ACC
i think Hall and Schieffelin should be able to get decent shots against most teams
the Tigers will need Hemenway and Tyson to knock down 3's - neither did last night - but didn't need to Hemenway was an uncharacteristic 0-fer from behind the line

Hey, Wake is in the top 10 in Football! Why can't Clemson be highly ranked in basketball?? Covid has turned the whole world upside down!!!

I agree but my question is does Wake have better football facilities than we have basketball facilities?

I was there last night too. Schieffelin and Hall were outstanding. I don't know that I can say enough about how impressed I was with both of them. Hall looks ready to take a big step forward.
I really like Josh Beadle's game a lot from having followed his HS recruitment. He's an excellent shooter and ball handler, though he did not exactly show it last night. I hope Brownell keeps letting him get some minutes, because I don't want him to get discouraged like so many other Brownell recruits. (See Prosper, Olivier-Maxence)
Of the transfers, David Collins seems like he'll provide much more of an immediate impact. He has a strong build and showed a willingness to attack off the dribble. He also flashed a good outside jumper.
I'm not really worried about Tyson or Hemenway -- they'll make shots. Dawes was loose with the ball, which was worrisome, but I will chalk it up to offseason rust. Honor is who he is -- a very, very streaky shooter. I like the idea of him and Dawes on the floor at the same time, but that would create a serious lack of size/length in the backcourt in a line up that doesn't have enough of either.
I think this team is going to be much more competent offensively than it has in a while. I also think our interior defense and rebounding will be a consistent weakness, but hope I'm wrong on that.

Not utilized very often in the 4 out & 1 in 'keep away and throw a 3" offense Brownell prefers.
