Thank you to ALL from the leadership of @saveclemsonxctf!!!

Apr 22, 2021, 11:18 PM

I just wanted to post a heart-felt thank you to all that helped us over the last 168 days. It was a battle and without the support, in particular, of the lady athletes, in multiple sports, joining our movement, this day would not have come. Kudos to our current student-athletes that continued to battle and WIN, in the face of such adversity and being basically kicked out of the Clemson family.

Finally, a thank you to all the alums, running fans, or just interested supporters, of you that wrote emails, helped the Go-fund Me, or just helped in your own individual way. Every one of these efforts led to the result today.

For months you publicly called Clemson shameful. You publicly cried it was discrimination and racism.

Just want to point out that you’re the one that’s shameful.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Not true.

Apr 23, 2021, 8:17 AM

I didn't post anywhere what Clemson did was "shameful" etc. I don't doubt there were some that did, just like there are some obnoxious Clemson football fans that say all kinds of regrettable words that are not representative of the rest of us.

We won this battle for our young men and young women and so that future students may have the opportunity to compete for our school. It sounds like you don't like that idea. That's fine. It's a free country. But don't deride our effort and cloak them with untrue accusations.

Let's go ClemsonXCTF!!!!

Apr 23, 2021, 8:30 AM

So you didn’t retweet this? I despise lying politicians. You also retweeted threats of lawsuits against Clemson. You constantly put down the best President this University has had in our lifetime on public forums. Shall I Continue?

You're obviously blind

Apr 23, 2021, 9:34 AM

Thank you for proving my point. You said for months, this retweet was from 3 days ago. And look at my actual words below it. I didn't say anything of the sort.

Look, you obviously have an infatuation with me and our cause. I am not going to apologize for winning for our kids and future student-athletes. I am also not sorry that your feelings are hurt and that we proved that Clemson was not truthful about the REAL title 9 numbers. You lost. Get over it.

Re: You're obviously blind

Apr 23, 2021, 10:02 AM

Am I blind or did you not post this over 4 months ago? And of all things this tweet references Disney and The Safety movie. I can get some others but a lying politician is no longer worth the time.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Re: You're obviously blind

Apr 23, 2021, 10:18 AM

Once again, you are helping to prove my point. Clemson absolutely did the break the law and I am sorry you can't accept the truth. As VP Pence said, you are entitled to your own opinion but not your own FACTS. Title 9 is a Federal Law and Clemson broke it when they cut all 3 men's programs. Furthermore, Clemson broke the Law in regards to disparate treatment of the Ladies. The fact that you can't seem to come to grips that Clemson didn't do this reinstatement out of the kindness of their own heart but because they were forced to by the Student-Athlete's Attorneys. If we listened to naysayers like you, Clemson would still be breaking the law and we would be at the bare minimum of 16 NCAA sports.

Have a lovely day.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Typical, sickening politico . . . .

Apr 23, 2021, 10:44 AM

this started with bowlhunter® saying "For months you publicly called Clemson shameful."

And in short order he posted 2 examples

A retweet plus your words saying "Stop the abandoning of our young men". . . (which any normal functioning person could infer this as "Clemson" being "shameful")

(and your reply was that was only 3 days ago)

AND

Example 2 - from December (months ago) - your own tweet of "This is disgraceful. I am ashamed of my alma mater"

(and your reply was this was forced due to blah, blah - political crap coming out of what appears to be a continuously spewing political crap pizza hole)

It appears to me you have, for months, been publicly calling Clemson shameful. You are the one who is shameful for doing that.

Have a nice day. G O T I G E R S ! !

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Apparently, you struggle with the English language

Apr 23, 2021, 12:20 PM

Being ashamed of an entity and calling someone "shameful" are 2 totally different things. If you can't grasp that, I Can't help you. Furthermore, I'd like to know where "stop the abandoning of our young men" is synonymous to calling Clemson shameful. It's almost laughable except that it shows how desperate some of you are to steal people's joy. What a sad way to live....

But it's cool. Keep living in your negative world. WE won. YOU lost.

Have a nice day.

Who lost!?! The fact that you wrote "YOU lost" speaks to a complete lack of understanding of this discussion.

NO ONE...and I really mean NO ONE on this board was fighting to have Track and Field and Cross Country removed. Do you think people OPPOSE T&F and CC? Not even the AD and Clemson WANTED them removed. Good or bad, he made a business decision.

You can't even see what people are saying. It's like you just want to fight.

But congrats on publicly dragging Clemson's name through the mud so that the programs you care about survive. YOU won, indeed.

I'm really excited the University reconsidered their position and that the Men's program will live on.

I see that the one comment to your post so far has been negative. That's unfortunate. But, it's expected.

To other TNetters, think before you jump on mbpeach. The team that worked to save the Clemson Men's T&F and XC team won the war. For that they should be praised. I know that quite a few didn't like some of their methods. But, again, they won the war. I would not have wanted to be Truman in 1945 faced with the decision to nuke Japan. But there is no doubt his choices ultimately won the war.

Will you now be deleting all of your online trash about Clemson such as the tweets to ESPN? Typical political approach - say anything at all costs so long that you win and make it as divisive as possible.

I'm sure trashing Clemson will make you more popular in GA for your next campaign.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Congrats to the team but words matter and last

I didn't post anywhere "online trash" to ESPN. As one of the main leaders of this effort, I conducted myself above board. He linked an article on ESPN. His comment "ESPN folks!" seems to me that he's excited that ESPN wrote an article on the situation. He's not mentioned at all in the article.

There's a handful of you that need to rethink this situation and realize you should be celebrating the fact that Clemson continues to have a Men's Track and Field and Cross Country team. You're acting like coots by crying that Clemson didn't nuke the team.

Re: Thank you to ALL from the leadership of @saveclemsonxctf!!!

Apr 23, 2021, 8:42 AM

Unfortunately our A.D. and President didn’t have the you know what to stand by their decision. I have no issue at all with the track folks not wanting it cut, however to go straight to the discrimination race card is typical, predictable, and weak. Shows they originally made the right decision when that’s your “go to” reasoning for keeping the program. No one was telling y’all that you couldn’t all get together and go run around campus, so I’m assuming you were just wanting a free ride through college.

Again, if they can be self sustaining, I’m all for them
having a team. However if not, it’s best for the Athletic Department to cut programs instead of adding more to drain what is already got to be a tight budget for the considerable future. They have no idea how many donors /fans will decide not to come back to Death Valley after last year, seems financially wise to limit the bills and just focus on the improvements needed in Memorial Stadium

Re: Thank you to ALL from the leadership of @saveclemsonxctf!!!

Apr 23, 2021, 8:47 AM

Yeah that's my fear even if 100% capacity is allowed by the University. We're going to have 3 groups:

1. Scared to attend a public event no matter what.
2. Those that won't attend if they have to wear a mask (me).

But most importantly:

3. Those that had to watch from home last year on their large high def TV's and realized how much money they saved.

Re: Thank you to ALL from the leadership of @saveclemsonxctf!!!

Apr 23, 2021, 8:57 AM

Yep. I’m afraid your 3 rd reason will be especially true. Folks who saved 3k or more last year and realized they could take another vacation or whatever may decide it’s o.k to watch the game on the ole 65 inch in the living room

Spending goes unchecked with football. The number of staff, number of walkons and the continued improvements “necessary” to support “championship “ football. Best is the standard doesn’t mean spend foolishly, and it is going to be an issue.

Football keeps the athletic department afloat as well as contributing massively to the growth in the areas surrounding Clemson (the city and businesses).

Apr 23, 2021, 10:52 AM

the approach that i have seen on here by the Pro-cross country group has been nothing short of "shameful" (to use a favorite word of our politico friend on here) and disgraceful.

Say anything, do anything, be however antagonistic it takes to get something back that TRULY VERY VERY few people care about at all.

Completely agree. I loved track long before I loved football

Apr 23, 2021, 12:15 PM

...and I certainly was not opposed to having track and field and cross country.

But there's just no getting past it (for me) that this effort to save these programs included a very vocal, very public condemnation of Clemson University as 1) doing wrong by the student athletes (when it was made clear that all current student athletes would retain whatever scholarship they had), 2) racist, 3) discriminatory. The original poster says "Hey, what's the problem, we won." You smeared the university to get what you wanted, nothing more.

I’m happy for the teams. I am a supporter and actually talked to DRad about the huge mistake they were making.

That said, I found your tactics appalling. I’m glad y’all “won” but but your attempts to damage the school were uncalled for. Y’all should apologize but I know you won’t.

IMO, of course.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Thank you to ALL from the leadership of @saveclemsonxctf!!!

Apr 24, 2021, 6:41 PM

By those tactics, Are you referring to holding the school accountable for title 9 violations? Are you referring to just letting them steam roll a 112 year old program without any input whatsoever? Are you referring to letting the AD lie to the BOT, the State Legislature, and the President, specifically about title 9, and not doing anything about it?

I guess we were supposed to just sit around and hope they change their mind? The AD, in the school's press release, specifically said the decision was "final." How exactly, except thru litigation threats, were we to change this decision?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

HOW?!!!!
