Came from 6 on 6 football, his coach begged loser lou to give him a scholarship, but no. Glad he went to Clemson. Not a better man to be found anywhere.

I loved the part where Steve Tanneyhill (former Scar QB and Gaines' high school coach) said he reminded Gaines every year before the Clemson vs Scar game who DIDN'T offer him a scholarship to get him ready. Even their former players can't help but love Gaines!
