Texans plying hardball

Mar 18, 2021, 12:05 PM

I am not big on conspiracy stuff but the timing of this Watson story makes you wonder...Are they trying to make him damaged goods so he can’t be traded?

Why would they need to do that? They have him signed to a 5 year contract so if they don't want to trade him then they don't have to trade him. If they did decide to trade him then they'd want his value to be as high as possible to get back as much as possible in a trade.

If they don't want to trade him then why would they want the face of their franchise to be damaged goods? That's bad PR for them, and less money they can make off of him through marketing.

Watson may not be guilty of doing anything wrong, and I certainly hope that's true. However, this thought that the Texans somehow went out and got at least 2 or more women to make up these stories about Watson is laughable. Those women would be able to make a TON more money from the Texans by going public with information that they were asked by the Texans organization to do a frame job on Watson.

probably, but one thing you missed could mean ur wrong

.... all NFL contracts have a Morals/Ethics/Conduct exit clause for the franchise. Something like this always falls under it, and the club could cut ties with him and owe him nothing if he settles or is found guilty. Doesn't mean they WOULD do that. And I don't believe any conspiracy theories. But the exit clause certainly gives them right to cut DW4 if they so choose.

It is a civil action. He will not be found guilty, he would be determined to be liable for damages.

And surely no other team in the NFL would sign DW4 if the Texans exercised the morals clause to release him.

That still doesn't make sense. If they wanted out of the contract with him so bad then why not just trade him? That way they'd get out of the contract and get draft picks in return which would include at least one 1st round pick, and most likely multiple 1st round picks.

As I have said several times, how long do the Texans want to devote Watson's cap room (even if they don't pay him they carry him on the cap) to a player doing nothing while they cannot sign or draft a QB of any quality (because even if any self respecting quality QB would go there, DeShaun would rejoin the Texans immediately)? Four years is a long time, and DW4 can live on his money a lot longer than the Texans can live without a QB.

The point for your conspiracy would be to make him look less marketable to other teams who really want him to pony up their ask

Do you really have to wonder if officials from an NFL franchise conspired to have two masseuse lie about DW flying them to Houston from Atlanta, and further lie that DW got mad when one wouldn't touch his ##### and the other wouldn't oil his anus (which are the allegations)? Of all the things the Texans could come up with to damage him (which makes no sense, anyway), they came up with that?

Things like a football organization framing one of their players of a crime have happened before? When?

Oh, yeah I agree with you there. I just thought you were agreeing with the OP that the Texans might be behind the whole thing.

I can believe the allegations are false. I can believe they are true. I can believe they are true AND this is a money grab. I cannot believe the Texans benefit in any way from this nor can I believe this is a Texans conspiracy.

As an Eagles fan I can tell you they have a storied history about leaking unflattering stories about their own players who they are having contractual issues with. I am not sure they would go this far, but this is Texas, and they just do things bigger there.

Please stop with this, I have seen multiple threads started about this BS.
Why in the world would they throw away millions to do something so despicable ?
