For some reason I don't think the two are comparable. I think one is far worse than the other.

100% Agree.
Intent is where the difference lies.
I think fines should be much lower (like 0-50k for storming the field). Stuff like this, the 250k feels right.

I completely disagree with the barrage of trash, bottle and other objects, but the fans were angry at the refs, and Lane's cocky gamesmanship.
3 straight time outs at the end of the first half to try to ice the kicker. What a turd.
The referees were horrible in spotting the ball after a tackle, So Miss seemed to get an extra yard or 2, Tenn was always a yard short. Always.

Nothing wrong with using timeouts to ice the kicker. It happens all the time. Thought Kiffen's actions were O.K. Didn't see anything to list him as a turd. He always seems to be a little cocky but so are many athletes and coaches (Saban ?). He handled the bottle throwing incident very well. I would have asked to end the game. If their band and cheerleaders had to leave the field, why not opposing players and coaches. $250,000 was no way near enough.

They fined the school not the people who actually did it... SEC gets richer school loses $$$. Think that is going to stop the fans from throwing crap on the field? The fans that storm the field don't care either ... it's not their money.
