Jack has led this team to a national ranking and usually the regionals, supers and sometimes CWS most years in his tenure, amazing winning percentage and all, elite program nationally, but he is 6-23 versus SC the past 29 games, and has been owned when it mattered most. He simply cannot overcome the SC Baseball squad, 6-23 for a nationally ranked team against any opponent is just bad, let alone your hated rival.

You are mistaken if you are referencing myself in that tone, I am neither a SC nor a Alum for that matter, I am an Army Black Knight, a West Point graduate who happens to live in SC and yes I enjoy great college sports and rooting for good teams in this state as well as my Alma Mater. Go Army beat Navy! I know good sport when I see it, And I have enjoyed watching Clemson sports these past 19 years.

Clemson University has great athletic teams, easy to pull for when you live in the great state of SC as I have done for almost 20 years now, and yes, I also enjoy the other teams from this great State when they have success on the national level, I love college sports, and I support all from this state as well as rooting for my own school, West Point. Collegiate athletics are about sportsmanship and respecting your opponents. There are no losers in competition, only those who have competed and win or lose, they are all winners for having competed. Time for everyone to take a bigger picture and realize this is about sportsmanship, there are bigger things in life. In the words of Douglas MacArthur in regards to athletics, "Upon the fields of friendly strife are sewn the seeds which upon other fields, on other days will bear the fruits of victory." He was of course talking about how athletics teach principles such as leadership, teamwork and hard work which instill the principles of success in life. Do not forget the reasons why competition and rivalry are so noteworthy and worthwhile when you think it it necessary to be so petty in your thoughts on collegiate athletics, there is a bigger cause that rates above most of the banter you see.

Oh yeah, the "tell em coot" auto reply that so many use as their first response whenever one has a discussion on Clemson Athletics that is not completely rosy or maybe gives credit to SC when they do well is really long in the tooth, not to mention juvenile, and it is repeated so often and with such regularity that it has no originality of course. A long and broken record of the same old same old, how about some honest discussion about collegiate athletics without all the same vile retorts? Clemson FB is at an all time high level, same for many of their other sports, and Baseball is nationally ranked, Basketball is doing very well in the toughest conference in America, much to be proud of. Stay positive.

Yeah, np. Clemson has so much to be proud of so I sometimes wonder why some fans are so negative, there is a bigger picture here of course.

i am a Clemson graduate living in SC

if I lived in Texas or California, would be far more tolerable

we need a coach that can win the rivalry game and not wet his britches

jmo but Jack and Dabo are beyond owned and beyond help in those regards

ready for the chicken flags to go back in the closet

Re: Tell'em coot***

Mar 1, 2014, 2:12 AM

Well, in over 100 years of the Army Navy rivalry, no team has ever dominated, until recently, when Navy has won 11 straight games, that tears at the heart of every West Point Grad, and so I understand being on the bad side of a rivalry in modern times, but Clemson is a great school, with great and successful athletic teams, and all of it's alums should be proud of such, the recent trend versus their rival not withstanding. Clemson alums have so much to be proud of, and in the long run, the only important thing is that they stay loyal to their school and also exhibit great sportsmanship through thick and thin.

honestly

gamecock fans are a unique bunch

intolerable slobs...every time I see one in a store they are always dressed like slobs...cannot keep their mouths shut...and are incapable of being respectful to others

would think your average Army/Navy fan is above comparison

great sportsmanship with this trashy bunch...a difficult proposition

Army Officer, you can bet your life, liberty and fortune that those consecutive losses to Navy rankle the soul and churn up high anxiety.

Time for the Point to launch all-out war against the Middies and bring that God-forsaken streak to a screeching halt...just like we need to do against the Chickens. (No offense to our good Navy folks, but you've won it enough for a while. lol)

about winning and beating their rivals. General William Westmoreland told me that in the early 50's President Eisenhour invited him to the White House and after sitting in the oval office for about a half hour Ike popped the question "well colonel, do you think you can go up to West Point and do something about that #### football team?". His answer, of course, was yes sir, at which point Ike appointed him the superintendent and he promptly hired Paul Dietzel who turned the program around!
