Klubnick to good to keep off the field!

Dec 19, 2021, 9:49 AM

I’m not saying Klubnick starts although he might by mid season. The kid breaks down a defense just watch him in the pocket. Streeter is excited about Klubnick I hope streeter input is taken into consideration by Dabo. I fully expect DJ to start but Klubnick gonna play especially if Dj is missing wide open receivers. Does anyone know who Clemson opens with next season. It would be nice if it’s a SC State or Troy or middle Tennessee or someone like that. Be the perfect game to work Klubnick in.

He might be too good to keep off the field but he might be too thin to play. He never gets hit in HS and the one time he did he hurt his shoulder and was out 3 games. For general safety and health and protection he might have to be kept off the field until he thickens up a tad and gets into power hour.

I see what your saying and he’s thin. But I could still see at least a package in the offense designed for Klubnick.

I can 100% see a package with very scripted quick throws, but I just am not sure he will be big enough to become the FT starter and take the week in and week out pounding and survive it. I could be wrong, he could also just crush power hour in the spring and be ready to roll in august. 6 months is a good amount of time and can really pack on beginners gains if eating and working out right (I’m sure he will be in our program and his work ethic). We shall see!

Trevor was pretty slim his first year, too. He'll be ok!***

This is the exact same reason the coaches tried to keep Deshaun off the field as a freshman. For good reason considering how many injuries he suffered that first year. He was just too good though.

Cade is 186, which is what DeShaun was his senior year in HS

Dec 19, 2021, 3:07 PM [ in reply to Re: Klubnick to good to keep off the field! ]

DeShaun broke his collar bone in Spring Practice and missed a month of weight training and weighed 204 at the big weigh in in August of that year.

Cade knows what he has to do and he realizes the opportunity he has in front of him. I would expect him to reach 200+ without any trouble by Sept.

Players routinely put on 15 to 20 pounds during their first spring and fall.

Watson came in 190....he was 210 when the ga game came around

Great point. He'll be getting hit by bigger and stronger opponents, although he is quick. Hoping he stays healthy...

DJ starts next year if his ball security is improved! All three losses this year had one thing in common. Spotting the other team touchdowns. Had that not happened this year, things would be different for Clemson and Georgia probably wouldn't be in the playoff.

Actually, what he is stating is true. The difference in the CU-UGA game was the play of the QB. Clemson has corrected the problem. UGA has not. Clemson fans are sleeping just fine. DAWG fans should be very concerned because you still do not have an elite QB that can beat Bama. Not now and not next season. The only one that UGA had was run off by Kirby. Not my words but, directly from your fan board.

Dec 20, 2021, 4:11 PM [ in reply to Re: Klubnick to good to keep off the field! ]

thing about the one UGA title is that a #1 UGA team played a 10th ranked Notre Dame team that you beat 17-10.

Talk about a boring title game, and no National Titles for 41 years since 1980.

Congratulations!

Iron is going to sharpen Iron. The QB room for the Tigers is looking bright next season. DJ is not going to give up his starting position easily. He is a fighter. I remember how Trevor looked at Texas A&M his freshman year. I kept screaming at the tv to put KellyB back in. Cade will need time to settle in. I also remember how Trevor look the same season against Bama. The top QB will come out on top. I personally feel that Cade will be the starter by game four but, I also hope that DJ proves me wrong.

Too thin? Did y’all see Will Taylor out there returning kicks, playing QB and slot receiver as a true freshman?

Until of course we moved him to slot wr and he tore his ACL first play.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We'll get an idea during spring practice...

Dec 19, 2021, 7:46 PM

and the spring game should be instructive.

If Dabo says little or nothing positive about DJ during spring practice (like happened this year), we'll know he hasn't made any progress. If that happens, the door could be open for Cade to start from the jump.

IMO, DJ will start at least the first couple of games before Cade takes over.
