Y’all Are Mixing 2 Very Differnt Things

Dec 16, 2021, 8:25 PM

The Portal and NIL are not at all the same. Portal is for players who aren’t satisfied that they aren’t starters. Let them go.
NIL recruits is a COMPLETELY different issue, and very concerning. Paying players to come to your school is completely unacceptable , yet it is.

You are wrong ! They work togther….A player at Clemson can make

More money than at app state…..Texas can pay more players than Clemson, if Clemson QB has a great year, what’s to say Texas doesnt recruit them through the year or at years end to come ply for them and offer more money …..think about it

As I have said over and over, NIL makes athletes free agents to go where the money is. Athletes are self-employed wage earners who happen to be students or are supposed to be.

For *student* athletes, transferring should be an obstacle

Dec 16, 2021, 9:24 PM

because you almost always lose ground academically when you do something as simple as change majors let alone change schools.

Of course this is probably not a really important point of discussion for many if not most of the portal entrants.

They are different yet there will be situations where they become linked.

The portal initially was used for players who were buried in the depth chart.

Going forward, we’re going to see players using the portal to move to teams who offer higher NIL earning opportunities.

59,

I don't disagree, but won't it work out over the next few years that the schools with the highest NIL situation will be winning the recruiting wars rather than the transfer wars. That will present a whole new set of problems (& a growing inequity between programs).

Here's where the transfer problem is heading. Guys who have breakout years at less rich schools will be poached by the rich schools - the rich will get richer and the rest will be further removed from any chance of making the playoffs.

They are two different things....

But, they go hand in hand at creating this perfect storm.

Lure a kid away with a profitable NIL contract and they can start in no time.

And the courts have approved it, so it’s not going away.

The portal, OTOH, can still be regulated,

So what happens when a recruit coming out of HS gets a big NIL deal at a school and then decides to transfer after his freshman or sophomore year? Highly doubt he has to give anything back. And can he then get another big NIL deal at the school he transfers to?

They are both relatively new and are prime examples of "empower the players" radicalism which was borne out of the same leftist detritus as the BS "woke movement". The same leftist ideologues that gave us that US tax dollar eating parasite, known as TitleIV. In combination or as a single entity either can & will create a constant state of chaos, particularly where roster management is concerned. And like the edible spread VEGEMITE, these concepts should be banned in the US.
