Maybe in 1980. Small incisions are used mostly and only Open Surgery is used on rare occasions.

Still requires a anchor in the side of the knee and a hole in the shin. They have to access the knee capsule. So, yes, 4 small incisions, an anchor on the outside of the knee and a hole in the shin. That's still the way they do it.

Just depends on if it is completely ruptured or if just frayed. Either way you will go in and repair it in an athletic individual

ACL. From my reading, it's there to make sure that your knee doesn't twist improperly.
