Agreed, I thought our TE position was going to cut loose this year, but I also thought our offense was going to average 30 + points per game. Hope the week off helped us regroup and improve.

There is nothing to argue because it is all too true. If i was an elite tight end, don't know why i would want to come to Clemson. Coaches do not know how to use them in the passing game. However, we haven't been able to cover tight ends from our opponents, NC State latest example, you would think coaches would understand their value. All the talk about TE becoming the tight end coach and that the tight ends would become a factor in our offense, simply hasn't happened. Very disappointing in loosing both Delp and Skinner(out recruited for Skinner in our own backyard doesn't speak well). Hope the light goes on one day for the coaching staff.

so sick of these binary arguments - you can't complain about our offense being absolutely abysmal or your not a real fan or don't trust the coaches.
I trust Dabo and even think he might make changes. I don't expect him to fire or demote TE during the season either.
I do think it's not out of the realm of possibility, however, that opposing defensive coaches have figured out TE.

Its easy to argue with this article. They took a few facts which are true and drew a conclusion which may or may not be true. Its hard to pull a player out of Georgia when the Dawgs put on the full court press. By the same token Bama recruits nationally and typically gets the guys they really want.
On the other hand, just last year Clemson signed the concensus #1 TE in Jake Briningstool so how do you align the fact that just last year we signed the top guy but this year cant sign top guys because the TE is underused? Both cant be true. Perhaps the Georgia TE grew up a UGA fan and the TE from Greer/IMG wanted to get away from home for college? Without knowing all the factors and their weight in the decision making process there is no accurate way to draw a conclusion.

#4 ranked TE recruit in the country last year. He has so far appeared in only one game, with no stats?
If our system is so complicated that 5-Stars coming out of high school consistently do NOT make an impact at certain positions, that is a problem in and of itself? We have supposedly recruited massive talent at the TE position in recent times, and yet, TE is a virtually nonexistent part of our offense. What gives?

Since you seem to be new to football I will help you understand. Often even highly rated players need time to change their bodies in the weight room, adapt to the speed of the game and learn the finer points of the position. Specifically the TE Position is a complex position to learn as it requires both a blocking scheme and passing scheme. Not unusual for a TE, even a very good one, to take a year or two to earn significant playing time.

No need to be condescending while tripping over yourself

defending Elliot not utilizing the TE.
Besides, isn't Bowers over at UGA a freshman? I seem to also recall that he is leading UGA in receptions through the first six games this season.
I am sure you'll have some snarky retort though, I'll wait.

I hope we get a new offense this off season because the next few years will reflect this. Mess in recruiting.

is not rearing its ugly head in our cross-over scouting.
We seem to get killed by TEs on defense by good teams yet we never hurt other teams with our TE.

So the question on the table is if we missed a top TE because we underutilized our TE. It was pointed out that just last year we signed a top TE which blows the silly theory. You can call honesty snarky but its because you cant handle the truth.

Wait, wait, wait. You suggested our top-rated TE needed a year in the weight room and to learn our system and this is why we weren't using him.
I am the one blowing your "theory out the water" pointing out UGA's hugely successful freshman TE who Delp specifically mentioned as one of his reasons for choosing UGA.
Look, we are last in the ACC on offense. LAST! Defend TE all you want but production is the end-game.
