Tayquan Johnson - OG - any word?

Tayquan Johnson converted from a DT to a OG seems to be complete. However, I haven't seen/heard any news of how well or bad he is in his new OL position. At 6'2 340 and a former DT; one would think he is plenty physical!
Has anyone heard anything regarding his progress? I am pulling for him(and all the Tigers); because he made this move when we were super thin at OL. What a saccrifice!

I don’t know how far along he is with his recovery, but they posted a video of him Benching 700 lbs ?? this Summer!

I don’t know how far along he is with his recovery, but they posted a video of him Benching 700 lbs ?? this Summer!
I saw that( it was 705 lbs.). That was outstanding!
Those former DL who make the move to OL tend to be rugged and physical man. I was looking forward to seeing what Tayquan could do over there. We will have to wait on him to get fully healthy it seems.

Pulling for him too. Torn pec is not good for any football player, let alone a lineman. Prayers for a complete and speedy recovery!
Question: Did he RS his freshman year?

Yes, he is a RS!
If this season is lost - does it meet the criteria for a medical RS? Is the criteria simply that you are hurt and didn't play a large percentage of the season?

That’s what I was thinking. RS, Covid exemption, and medical RS. He could be here longer than Renfrow. Not to mention he could have his masters and be on his way to a doctorate by the time he used his eligibility LOL. Seriously, with him being moved around and his phenomenal strength, he could be a big time part of the program.

You are correct. I was thinking of the bench video from Gage Cervenka a couple years ago. He did squat 705 tho which is insane.

Ridiculous. I honestly did 450 my junior year of HS and just can’t imagine 705. That is boss level for what was a RS freshman at the time!

It's not really a surprise he switched to OG, honestly.
He was one of those coming out who played both ways in high school and he might be a DT, might be an inside OL, but he's freak strong and has the athletic ability and we want him, we'll plug him in somewhere and see where he winds up.
Some of those "frame" guys you just recruit because you know you'll want them up the road, develop 'em, see where they are in 2-3 years. He definitely seemed like one of those. At 340 I like him better as an OG than a DT in Clemson's scheme anyhow. He might make a pretty good NG in a two-gap 3-4 but we don't play that way on D.

Good Post Q! Plus for Tayquan - I believe the average length of an NFL OL is longer than that of a DT? By years!
If he can get healthy and keep a defensive mindset "on offense" meaning he likes and wants the contact; we will have something special: assuming he gets technique and playbook down of course!
