Tampa ticket options

Dec 23, 2016, 11:37 AM

Our family has long been Clemson fans and we go to as many games that we can. We have never had a chance to attend a bowl game but my son is in college and as a Christmas gift I am thinking of doing a father son trip to the National Championahip game. Other than paying huge prices for tickets online I am wondering if anyone purchased tickets outside the stadium at last years National Championship game in AZ? How did you find them? What were the prices? Did you feel that fraud was a serious issue? Are there any other options I should consider. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

If it were a regular bowl game, you could probably by dirt cheap tickets outside the stadium. Since it is the Natty, and Alabama is most likely in the game, tickets will be at a premium. Alabama fans could easily fill the stadium by themselves and they are willing to pay big bucks.

That is a good point for sure. Just hoping to find some type of affordable option.

Affordable is in the wallet of the beholder.

The cheapest ticket has a $450 face value.

Of course, how often will Clemson be in the position to play for the National Championship?

WE HAVE TO BEAT OSU FIRST!!!!

Given that the two participating schools are allotted a set number of seats there will be a lot of tickets in the local market. Start looking early in area newspapers and outlets like stubhub and ticketmaster but be prepared for sticker shock if its Bama and the Tigers.

I know for a fact that 4 of my friends bought lower level tickets at the stadium in Arizona. They got them for 200 a piece. Also all 4 were together. Ticket prices will fall they always do. Tickets were easily obtained at last years natty for under face value. So much so that I did not order tickets this year. I will get mine at the game.

That ia good to hear. $200 ea. seems reasonable. I thought I heard that some fans got tickets for a "good price" at the stadium last year but I didnt know what a good price actually meant.

Yea middle of the desert in Arizona is different than Tampa. Not sure there will be a lot outside the stadium with the possibility of driving in and trying to get in get much higher.

Re: Tampa ticket options

Dec 23, 2016, 1:46 PM [ in reply to Re: Tampa ticket options ]

Big difference between last year and this year is fanbase distance. The cost/bottleneck of buying a flight to AZ filtered out a ton of people who would have otherwise gone to the game (lowering demand). If Alabama/Clemson are playing in Tampa, both fanbases can drive (higher demand for tickets), so people won't have trouble selling them. That's why you could buy tickets for less than face in Arizona last year. No buyers=price drops

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Tampa ticket options

Dec 23, 2016, 2:06 PM

Agreed. Distance played a huge factor in ticket prices falling last year. I purchased 4 club levels the day before the game last year for $300/each. If it's Clemson/Bama this year I expect prices to go up and stay up. As the previous poster said when both fan bases can drive to the game and it's the national championship prices will be through the roof.

I would never lay own $250 - $500 cash

Dec 24, 2016, 9:24 AM [ in reply to Re: Tampa ticket options ]

for a ticket sold by some random guy outside a stadium that has a 50% chance of being counterfeit. Thats a lot of hard earned cash.

If its Tigers vs Alabama, the price point and ticket buying experience will be very different than Phoenix. I would recommend you spend the money, buy it from a legitimate or known source and chalk it up to a lifetime experience.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's easy to get scammed outside the stadium

Dec 23, 2016, 2:12 PM

Better off to get a pair through Stub Hub

If it's CLEMSON vs Bama look to pay 600 for nose bleed tickets

Re: Tampa ticket options

Dec 24, 2016, 9:01 AM

Good onformation to consider. I have a place to stay, no problem getting there and time off from work is no issue. I just have to decide the top dollar I'm willing to pay. How do I find out what security features (water marks, foil etc.) might be on the tickets so I can try to make sure the ones I buy are legit? I assume fraud can be a real problem buying tickets at the game.

Re: Tampa ticket options

Good rule of thumb for buying tickets outside of the stadiums is, the closer you are to the stadium the higher the chances of the tickets being legit, and vice versa. If scalpers are right outside of the stadium selling tickets, chances are they are legit.

I rolled the dice and showed up in Arizona without a ticket last year

Dec 24, 2016, 11:49 AM

Had a ticket in my hand within 10 minutes of getting parked and on site. There was a huge police tower right next to a designated area where people were selling tickets. I paid $300 cash for a lower level end zone seat. I had just kept watch on stubhub and noticed ticket prices dropping each day prior to the game and decided to take my chances. In the end it worked out ??

I would not read to much into these people's hype. If you have 600 in your hand at Ej stadium you will get a ticket. I would say if it's clemson vs Alabama you have to realize that both canvases paid to go to Arizona. That will tap a lot of people out that would have gone. They just simply will not have the money to go through all that again. It will be about the same it always is. Look back through the history. Ticket prices always plummet the week before the game.

if It's us and Bama in TB, not sure I'd count on how it went

Dec 24, 2016, 12:46 PM [ in reply to Re: I rolled the dice and showed up in Arizona without a ticket last year ]

last year. It was hard to get to AZ last year. Tampa is a lot easier. I'd expect the cost to be higher than last year.

I checked the Online Ticket sites and most are charging about $600 a ticket for upper deck corner seats and all are within about $75 of each other. Fees are all over the board. I guess all will change one way or the other when the teams are decided.

Not being smart, but you would be better off going to Staff

Dec 24, 2016, 1:24 PM

If it is Clemson and Bama those tix will not drop. Theyll nevee be below $450/ and I'd be surprised if they are below $550.
Fiesta tix are $70.

That's what everyone said last year. The week before the game tickets on stubhub were 1000 dollars. By Wednesday they were face value. There are almost 50000 tickets that have not hit the market yet. They will not until the week of because they will not be handed out till then.

Bought 2 tickets lower level for 225.00 each. StubHub had a room set up in the renaissance hotel beside the stadium & got the man to let me check with them to make sure they were not counterfeit!
They scanned them & were good tickets! Just be careful !!

I'm still debating the best way to secure tickets. I dont mind taking some risk and I can go down there a day before the game so I might monitor pricing for download tickets against the local market pricing. The forum has tons of experienced people that know more about it than me so I should be able to make an informed decision learning from others.

The market for tickets has so many different options. I even found a place to bid on the opportunity to buy tickets at face value.

Re: Tampa ticket options

Dec 25, 2016, 2:46 PM

The best thing to do is watch Stub hub the last few days before the game.
Then a few hrs before kickoff buy them on stub hub.
That will be the time that they are the cheapest and Stub Hub will back their tickets 100%.
That would also give you the chance to try outside the stadium before you buy on stub Hub .

Best option is for Washington to upset Bama and for our Tigers to take care of the Buckeyes. Tickets will drop and there will be a ton of Orange in Tampa.

These people are ridiculous lol. I watched club level hard copies go for $150 ea outside the gate in PHX. You'll be able to get below FV @ the gate 100%. Distance means nothing if the games are around holidays, plus people like to be with their friends and family and watch it at home. Just go, you won't regret it. My regret was paying $450 each last year.

Re: Tampa ticket options

The game is on Jan 9th what's that got to do with the holidays.
This year in Tampa if it's CLEMSON vs Bama tickets will be a whole lot harder to get than last year.

Have to agree with you. Drive down and back-2 days tops and pretty much guaranteed to be DW4 last game... not sure u chance it but also agree if u have to wait to get tickets then go!
