Sure, our team is struggling, but listen up…

Oct 3, 2021, 8:55 AM

I’ve been pulling for the Tigers a long time and I’ve NEVER heard the disgusting attacks on players and coaches like some of you are doing. Clemson is special for a lot of reasons and loyalty by our supporters is high on that list. I promise you the team wants to win more than any of us. So, if you can’t support them in good times and bad just shut up. You are doing nothing to help us get better.

I agree 100%, but you’re going to get roasted for this. Our job as fans is to support the team/program. The coaches job is to coach and decide who plays. The administration’s job is to decide who coaches. If you want one of those other jobs apply for it and you’ll quickly find out if you’re qualified for that job.

I think if you will be truthful you'll realize that tge fans have a lot more decision making power than you mentioned. If they don't buy tickets or show up to games because of what the coaches are doing then they will be gone. So did the administration decide or did the fans decide?

That’s like saying we can put Walmart out of business if just a few fanatical consumers stop shopping there. See how well that worked. I am being totally truthful. Those of you that live in the fantasyland where you know more than the coaches are the ones that aren’t being truthful. I encourage you to try your theory. We don’t need “fans” like you.

Boosters absolutely have enough sway to force admin decisions.

Not the 80% off fans on here that are middle class or lower, but the rich alumni

Theoretically. Look at USuCk. Their biggest donor told them not to hire the President that they hired that turned out to be a total disaster. I don’t remember his name. The point is they hired him anyway after the biggest donor to the school said don’t. As a result she is now donating to Clemson. Yea - they lost all that money but it didn’t affect the decision at all. They only let him go after he basically left them no way to keep him. I don’t live in a theoretical world.

Attacks are out of frustration. Fan bases get used to winning when a team has success like we did. When that happens we sign coaches to big contracts. Those contracts are paid for by the fan base, the administration doesn't have money to pay a coaching staff the millions of dollars we pay ours. When you pay guys like we are you expect and quite frankly demand results. If results aren't achieved then said employees need to move on. It's all about accountability and adaptation, both of which I don't think the big guy is doing very well right now. They haven't been in this situation before so they don't know what to do. It's like AA, first you have to own up to the fact that you are lost before anything can be done.

Fan donations may provide the funding to pay the coaches. The administration makes the personnel decisions. Not our job. Following your logic part of our job is to provide funds so the administration can hire and retain the best coaches possible - but they still make the decision as part of their jobs.

Agree that some comments are offensive there are always a few… having said that this is tigerboards not a cheerleading forum. Because many fans and yes fans are concerned about the direction of this team especially the QB and the offense doesn’t make them less of a fan than Pollyannas who find anything acceptable. Been a fan for 72 years I can’t remember a time when mediocre was acceptable at Clemson.

I agree that a lot of people are crossing a line and making poor play or judgement into a personal issue. I don't think that there should be any immunity to people being critical of the product on the field. I do think a lot of people are being unduly hard on players and staff, but as long as they limit it to actual performance I don't see a problem with it.
