Success Has Made This Staff Unwilling to Change

Sep 19, 2021, 6:28 AM

So listening to Dabo and TE, Clemson has reached a point where everything we do is based upon the success we had doing it in the past even though teams have figured out how to stop us and the current players are not executing it well. We have no ability to adapt to or use our players in a way that works best with their abilities.

This is how many of those who are successful end up falling behind. Complacency. Stubbornness. Resistance to Change.

Seems like our staff has decided that because it worked in the past it will continue to work with no need to adapt or change regardless of who we have on our team or what other teams are doing.

Good luck with that. Cherish those recent ACC and National Championships cause it may be awhile before we see more.

That's the definition of modern day "coaching" and what Saban has mastered.

Perhaps a change of scenery like a New Year Day's Bowl game because will cure the problem because
if something doesn't happen to revive a dying offense that is exactly what you will end up with.

embraced the transfer portal? (I hate the portal) of course players are transferring out but we dont replace them we just add more walkons. Even Nick Saban has embraced it.

"I love this place, I've got a spot already picked out where I want 'em to put me when I die - up there on that ole hill near the stadium. I want to be there so I can hear all them people cheering my Tigers on Saturdays; then I won't have to go Heaven; I'll already be there."- Frank Howard

Yes. Saban puts winning first. He adapts to keep winning. Dabo is focused on family, building men. He had success with his formula but now the test is can he adapt when it is needed. He has to know that the family- building men culture is great until you start losing games. He seems like he believes in doing things his way even though the landscape around him is changing. Unfortunately, I think he and his staff may be about to learn some hard lessons.

It's been trending this direction ever since we lost Morris.
The drop off from him to TE and Scott was enormous.

No idea why we gave him a contract extension and raise in February.

Luckily the skill and talent was there to overshadow the opponent. Now, not so much.

Maybe we'll get lucky and the real USC will come take him off of our hands.

The threat of other teams coming after TE and past success made us pay top dollar to keep him. The offense is stuck without TL, DW, and no adjustments to current talent. Unfortunately, if he left I don’t even know if Dabo would hire the best OC available or just promote from within/ hire another buddy or former Clemson player. He has to figure out how to keep his family culture but also keep winning by recognizing when adjustments are needed and put the right people in position to implement them.

Remember when Tony (I hate TE initialing) was the hottest name and likely to be the next head coach somewhere. I’ll say a good Offensive line with a couple player who can take it to the house any given play makes a big difference.
