Just read a wonderful post about dropped passes. Why now?

Why are we just now seeing dropped passes from our RBs, WRs, and TEs when it wasn't ever a problem before.
Does anyone care to speculate? I think it would be really interesting to hear people's opinions on this.

Because they have worse hands than the other dudes who made the catches?

If it hits your hands you should catch it. It is somewhat DJs fastballs, but come on you are a D1 receiver catch the ball.

it's a dumb one and no one ever gave Elway's receivers a pass for it either.

Ross is coming off of injury and just isn't on. It's not that complicated. The guy delivering the ball isn't as on either and they are getting less opportunities to work it all out as well.

Ross is scared and isn’t even blocking and Adjou doesn’t know how to block or when to block, and Ngata is inconsistent. We have no slot and are not even trying to develop one. Our running backs are young and inexperienced so we aren’t giving them a chance, and when you drop 2 or 3 out of 5 or 6 passes everybody thinks they can’t catch why are we throwing the ball to the running backs. On a positive note, our offensive line has shown improvement and our running backs have shown steady improvement and DJ running the ball and moving in the pocket is slowly getting better.

IMO lack of confidence. Taking eye off ball, alligator arms, waiting for hit. Plus throw not always where it needs to be. All correctable, but who knows when? Saturday, let's hope!

Easy. Our top receivers have been out or playing out of position. Our backs are very, very inexperienced.

Where's the wonderful post you speak of?
Lots of good responses but I've noticed going back and watching some plays, that they're catching it with their palms or body and not so much finger tips. Collins, he needs to learn to extend his arms.
Next, I've noticed they're playing very soft. Especially the quick passes that have been dropped, they wait on the ball instead of step into it to shield the defender. Got to come back to the ball. This really hurt Spector last season with Trevor. He'd run the slant and let the defender come to him vs vice versa. This can be taught. Spec would have been a weapon for us this year.
Strong hands when ball is arriving. Got to look the ball all the way in. Fundamentals... But as Valley said, inexperienced. Especially our backs as well as Collins.

I have seen the same thing. Our guys are not making the contested catches. They’ve been too easily bumped off the route and especially at the point of the catch. Before the ball hits the ground they are motioning to the ref asking for a flag. And I think other teams are seeing this and playing aggressive defense with a lot of contact and the refs seem hesitant to make that call. Good defenders will take what the ref is giving them and out receivers are being “out physicalled”

Very true. There are some nuances and things receivers can do to create space in the route and just before ball arrival. They are not exactly going to our run opponents With the receivers we recruit and their size, it is essential that they learn these skills.
Nuk is one of the best at this.

The guys on the three and four deep have always dropped balls. The problem is those guys are starting now. Also DJ is not getting the ball to the right place at the right time. Hitting someone in the hands late just results in them getting their bell rung and dropping the ball anyway. Slow decision making + slow release mechanics are a bad combo.

Subconsciously, the money being taken in...

I know they do not want to drop passes or throw poor passes, but I know when I am flush with money, alot of my effort goes down.

They aren't flush with money, so there goes that theory. Also, making more money is also an incentive.

I’m sorry but is there a particular reason that you sound like a parrot chirping when you respond to anyone’s text? It’s like you hide and waiting so that you can contradict anybody that has anything to say about Clemson that you don’t agree ?

NO JEFF SCOTT, that's why! ! ! ! ! I don't think that our fans has realized how valuable JefF Scott really was to our Tiger FB team, and I really, truly believe that. Jeff was putting our receivers in the NFL every year, and some of the best of the best came to Clemson to learn under him. Jeff Scott was the main ingredient to WRU!!!

I believe it has to do with the timing ,delivery and speed. DJ is anticipating where the receiver will be instead of throwing them open. Also there could be a little more touch on the ball at times. Not every one of them has to be a dart and sometimes you have to lay it in the receivers hands.

Yep. They just aren't a confident cohesive bunch. They look like they are just learning to play with each other.

Maybe some part experience, some part mental and some part self-imposed pressure. I will never believe it's because they don't like DJ (like some posters would like us to believe). If it was, they would be benched and probably already in the portal.

Exactly. Many of them love the game. They want to do well no matter what. They all dream of playing in Sundays. They all probably love their team. They all want to get playing time. They all want to play well for those reasons.

Because like the former QB said earlier, Stinko throws a #### 50 pound medicine ball 100 mph.
