Stub Hub - Orange Bowl ticket tip

Dec 9, 2015, 6:59 PM

Prices for tickets on stub hub will drop dramatically in the days leading up to the game. If you can stomach the risk, head down to Miami and the morning of the game, purchase either printable tickets or tickets that you can pick up at a stub hub location - parking pass as well. I haven't tried this with tickets, but easily could have. I watched as the prices fell for the CU v OSt Orange Bowl. But I paid $35 per ticket early on any way, so didn't need tickets. I did however purchase a VIP parking pass a few hours before the game and picked it up at the stub hub location. $17. We almost parked in the stadium, we were so close.

This one will be a little more pricey for sure. But I very well might take my chances on picking up tickets at the stub hub location the day of.

I tried this with the ACC championship last Saturday and it didn't work. Hoping for better luck with the Orange Bowl!

Thanks for the heads up. I will say, there isn't really a bad seat in Sun Life Stadium, so any seat will do.

where is the stub hub locations at the stadium, i purchased my tickets on vivid. I'm not risking getting fake tickets like so many people got in charlotte last weekend, never buy printable tickets, that person can reprint that ticket as many times as they want and sell them and the first person who gets in the stadium with that ticket will get in and everyone else wont..thats a fact so be careful and do your homework , scammers will be out at this game big time..

I have no sense of direction because ... girl. But it's right at the stadium. We stopped on the way in.

I've purchased all bowl tickets through stub hub for years and haven't had a problem. But I will definitely be careful. I prefer mail or pick up so will probably make sure they are pick up.

StubHub authenticates the barcode if it's a printable ticket

Dec 9, 2015, 7:28 PM [ in reply to Re: Stub Hub - Orange Bowl ticket tip ]

and cannot sell the same barcode multiple times. You are right if you are buying from a third person that has a printout that they may have used Stubhub for...but buying from Stubhub is 99.9% okay.

The 0.1% would be someone who listed their tickets on Stubhub and then used the actual ticket to get into the stadium before you...but they will have to refund you if they do that, Stubhub will protect you.

BullShyatt. I got stuck with a fake from their site

Dec 9, 2015, 8:23 PM

They don't check anything on the tickets, they just sell them.
They may have refunded my money but I was still wandering outside of the game Saturday night.

Dec 9, 2015, 7:50 PM

Just my thoughts based on my tix buying/selling experience and having season tickets to two major football schools.....

Mind you this isn't THE national championship game (I've been to several in the BCS era)....but it is a national semi-final. You can't compare a national semi-final game to a normal BCS Orange Bowl game like the ones where CLEM played OSU or WVU that draws only casual national interest. In those games, there were plenty of empty seats and tickets were relatively cheap/easy to come by. Although it was a BCS game, the vast majority of the fans attending those games were closely associated with the schools. In a national semi-final, you are going to get a lot more attendance and attention from the general public because this game carries much more significance. This was proven in that both semi-finals last year were completely sold-out.

Yes, the demand won't match a NC game because some people just simply can't afford it and some are hedging their bets on their team going to Glendale......but bear in mind, this game is sold out and the Orange Bowl is looking to add more seats. Most of the tickets people see for sale on Stub Hub are held by employees of companies who sponsor the game. These people either got their tickets free, or for very little cost from their employer. That's why you see a good number of tickets at/or below face value....they can afford to sell for less and still make a lot of money. Some are held by brokers who have already been able to buy tix cheap from these employees b/c the employees needed the $$$ and didn't want to hassle with the selling process and wanted to get their $$$ before Christmas.

With all that said, it would not surprise me to see ticket prices to remain relatively stagnant for next few weeks but then see a slow rise in demand/prices the week of Christmas and the following week (game week). Again, I'm sure you may be able to find a good deal the day of the game---but I would be shocked if its anything below face unless its from a good Clemson soul who just has extras. If its anything like the two national semifinal games from last year (and based on what a few Bama ppl have told me) the demand is markedly more than a typical BCS game. I'm going to call a couple of brokers whom I know in Florida to see if they share my assessment & will share if I hear anything different.

So, what are you wanting for the tix you're trying to sell on stubhub?

Hehee.....not selling mine! ; )

Just trying to give CLEM fans some insights based on my experiences going to these types of "national" games. Granted, I could be totally wrong....but I suspect that stadium will be completely full come Dec. 31.

Totally understand and agree. The best part is that being so close to a stub hub location, should the opportunity arise, there could be some savings. I'll determine what I would pay now, and then compare that to what is available on game day. We'll see. If it all fails, I'll have a kid-free trip to Miami with an awesome date (my husband) and we'll just enjoy the time.

I sure you'll be able to get a very good deal---to be clear--I don't think demand will skyrocket....I just think the market will remain stable and slowly rise. Could easily be wrong--won't be the first time lol. OU fans have been a bit disappointing in their demand...but they are located a long way from Miami.

Ohio State showed up in big numbers. They all flew in and teased us for driving 9 hours from Charleston. I'm sure Okee will show up. We'll offer them free beers after the loss just like we did the OSt fans. Many of them turned down the free beer. :( Not sure why.

Stay far far away from Stub Hub

Dec 9, 2015, 8:21 PM

I bought a fake ticket from them for the ACC Championship Game.

I may have gotten my money back from them, but that's only difference between them and the guys on the street. I didn't get to see the game.

I've bough/sold many on there over the years and have never had a problem. Sorry to hear you that happened to you--that sucks. But at least you bought there (and not on the street) and got your money back. I bet they never allow that seller to sell again.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Therein lies the rub...

Dec 9, 2015, 9:06 PM

I've bought plenty from them over the years, but I now will no longer trust them.

IF they don't have trust, they don't have a business model. Without that trust, they might as well be the guys running around outside the game wearing signs saying "I need tickets".

There is no Stubhub pickup site at Sun Life

Dec 9, 2015, 9:07 PM

I leaned this the hard way when we played Ohio state. I bought a ticket at the last minute, and shame on me for not reading the pickup info on the email.

They wanted me to pick up at a casino 3 miles away. This was after I'd already paid to park and walked 2 laps around the stadium in search of the Stubhub tent.

That's the last time I used them.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My bad. Picked up on the way to the stadium and seemed

Dec 9, 2015, 9:11 PM

super close. It was very close. We could see the stadium so not that far off. Just a little pre-planning with google maps should help.

May have been previously posted. As of yesterday the official OU website was selling their $175 face value tickets to the public. Buy from them and also keep an OU fan out.
