Streeter was tough as nails as QB...

Jul 19, 2022, 9:57 AM

Everytime I see his name, I recall the Virginia Tech game (I believe back in 1999) - one of the gutsiest performances I can recall by a Clemson QB - he literally had no protection, got hammered on almost every play/pass, but still hung in there with some incredible plays/passes, knowing he was going to get drilled. I believe the untouchable DE for VT was Corey Moore - we couldn't do anything to stop him. Anyway, I will always have the utmost respect for Streeter and how he played like a champion, especially that night.

ran into him that night at TTT up stairs...

I agree with you. That game and Sapp at FLA ST are two that stand out to me for gritty QB play.

I remember it just as you describe and found instant respect for Streeter because of that game. Saying the guy has grit doesn't come close to describing him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Streeter has Grit but hoping DJ gets or finds his in 2022!

Remember seeing close-ups of Corey Moore that night and thinking, "This guy's on drugs"

He must of not seen Tajh Boyd in the bowl game playing against the Les Miles LSU team. IMHO, that was the toughest, gutsiest QB play by Tajh Boyd as I've seen from a QB. Tajh reminded me of Jack, of Jack in the box, every time that huge LSU defense knocked Tajh down and mauled him, he would jump right back up, and He would burn them on the next play. If Streeter was the toughest QB he had ever seen, that means he never watched Tajh Boyd against #8 LSU in the CHICK-FIL-A BOWL game where Tajh Boyd threw for over 300 yards against one of the toughest defenses in the SEC, and Tajh threw for more yards against that LSU defense, even more than any team they played against in the SEC including #1 Bama, #10 Florida, #3 usuc, #18 Texass A&M, and #21 Mississippi State. Tajh Boyd was the toughest QB I've ever seen play at Clemson IMO, especially when looking at who any other QB was playing against!!!

So, I'm confused...

Jul 19, 2022, 3:28 PM

... are you saying that Boyd was the toughest QB we had at Clemson? Wasn't clear in your post :)

In that game Tajh also excelled on 3rd and short rushes. They hit him every whichaway but it he got the yardage we needed. Very gutty performance!

I remember that Virginia Tech game very well and I still can’t understand why we were not able to control Cory Moore in some way. Bring a tight end. Shift the line.

I like it! ?????? If anyone can teach mental toughness, it is…

I don't care who the QB is playing behind the center for Clemson, you can bet the entire farm that I will be pulling for them to do well, and just win regardless of how it may look, as long as we have the winning score!!!!

Hey coach, he needs to get his playing weight down to between 225 and 228 maximum in order to be most effective!!!! Any more will be a drag on his playing effectiveness!!!!

Coach Streeter keeps talking about DJ’s improvement but I might be wrong about it but I did not see that much improvement in the Spring game. But, I hope he does improve & excels this year.

Re: TNET: Streeter on D.J Uiagalelei's weight loss and health status

Jul 19, 2022, 5:48 PM

you (and I and everyone else not an offensive coach) were probably looking for different things than they were looking for. I thought Dj showed improvement from last year with decisions and footwork, IMO he still relies too much on his arm strength vs solid technique. Hopefully all the summer work pays off, cannot say he's not trying to get better and reach his potential.

Receivers can help him out too...

Absolutely nothing wrong with bragging on
D.J. before the season starts. Would be
fantastic if he performs as well as we all
know he can. He just needs to quit listening
to the haters.

Is it just me or you can't ever hear the questions?

Jul 19, 2022, 1:49 PM

Just another Mickey Mouse example of the ACC's management of anything.

I know DJ is like 6'5" but 30lbs of weight loss is a lot of fluff. I mean that's probably 8-12% body fat that he LOST. Was he in Jared Lorenzen territory or something?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hope Cade is getting lots of snaps

Jul 20, 2022, 12:50 AM

And I appreciate Dabo updating "both DJ and Cade" have looked good.
