Strange relationship between FSU and Clemson.

Clemson fans, rightly so, are major ticked off at FSU for the horrible decision made by FSU last year in cancelling the game a couple of hours before kickoff.
Clemson fans, understandably so, are hoping DJ throws for 1000 yards and 12 touchdowns and Clemson hangs 100 on FSU this fall.
It may be that next to South Carolina (and maybe UGA) FSU is the most hated school in the eyes of Clemson fans.
I understand that and don't blame fans for feeling that way.
But, here is the ironic thing. Clemson and FSU seem to be connected at the hip when it comes to conference expansion. Clemson fans, and FSU fans, know that the only realistic way for the two schools to survive if the ACC gets raided is for them to be a package. FSU needs Clemson and Clemson needs FSU.

of my life in NC my hatred is towards the Tobacco Road schools, specifically Duke and UNCheat. I watched plenty of beat downs by Bobby and FSU but never had any hatred towards y’all? You were just that much better and we weren’t recruiting anywhere near what y’all had. We seemed to be the only football focused schools in the ACC so we sorta have to stick together. I feel any payback emotions are strictly from the “punk move” of canceling the game at the last minute. I think the Bowden Bowls were some of the best games when we were finally on your level again. We need someone to right the ship down there and get y’all back up

I like the rivalry with FSU more than NC St and GT. FSU would do better in the SEC than the ACC and Clemson may recruit on Bama’s level consistently there.
The Bowden Bowl was fun to watch- it would be cool to see happen, but I may prefer adding ND and PSU or WVU.

Clemson already recruits at Bama level. We just bring in kids for 3 to 5 years (Heavy on the 4 and 5) and Bama has to replace their kids every 3 to 4 years (Heavier on the 3).

I know that's what the cool kids on Tigernet do but I don't worry about them. I enjoy our rivalry and I hope the Noles can get back to powerhouse status ASAP. Good competition is good for Clemson.
I also love Bobby Bowden. It was sad to see him coach past his prime. It was even sadder to see the coach in waiting stab him in the back rather that allowing him a one year farewell tour as head coach (in name only) while Jimbo did the actual coaching.
So yeah, I agree that our fortunes are, as you say, joined at the hip. UNC is really the only other team in the league that's doing much to give the ACC any sort of credibility these days. Miami is making noise but I'm not ready to buy stock there just yet. So far all I hear is noise. As for the rest of them, bleh!!

I don't hate FSU. I like that rivalry. Been to 3 games there and fans have been fine, in all.

I hated losing to FSU back in the day but never hated FSU. The canceled game is what it is, but it’s not something that makes me hate FSU. I actually think it’s much better for the ACC for FSU to be good again. Our fan bases and programs are more similar than dissimilar. That said, I still hope we pound you guys this fall??

Don't hate FSU at all. Huge fan of Coach Bowden as a man and what he accomplished as a coach. However that was a chickensh*t move by Norvell last year and not the message id want to send to my kids if I were a head coach. Basically admitting that your team isn't good enough to step on the field with Clemson.

I have one of the most expensive Clemson Barbies there is. It's still only worth about $10 cash. In 2015 I took my late sister to a doll show. They had a Clemson Barbie there so I bought it and said "this doll is mine." I had her in a prominent place for the FSU game. Our streak then started and shows no sign of ending. She'll be there for every time we play FSU. I'm probably going to it put in my will to have the new owner of that Barbie have her out for every time we meet FSU.

I have been to Tallahassee several times and have always been treated very respectfully.
Certainly can't say the same about places like Georgia, NC State, and Slumbia (uof6c). Maryland was pretty bad too but thankfully, they're the B1G's problem now.

Never had a bad experience with the FSU fans but the school's behavior regarding last year's game made me livid. I still think they should reimburse Clemson for $300K in travel expenses. As far as Clemson and FSU being joined at the hip, they will do what it takes to survive--together or apart. That's all they can do.

is that they SUCK. The blame lies with FSU and FSU alone for all the crap Clemson receives about our schedules. There'd be a jab or two, sure, but nobody really cared as long as we had top 10 FSU on the schedule.
Specifically, I'm miffed at the administration and the wallets down there. They had a good thing going with Jimbo and absolutely BLEW it. Dude was 88-22 with a Natty and it was like they were TRYING to make him mad and leave, which he of course did.
So sure, I'm pissed that FSU cancelled the game on us like a bunch of fairies (the COVID risk would have been exactly the same as every other game), but I'm way more pissed that their last season of at least 8 wins (2016) is getting smaller and smaller in the rear view.

Sure, last year's shenanigans ruffled feathers, but so what, the entire season has a COVID asterisk beside it.
While FSU is a team I always want us to beat, I have never felt any true hate toward them. Bobby Bowden was too nice to hate. Jimbo was hate-able but we beat him, so who cares.
In case you're curious, my Top 5 hated teams:
1) Alabama - insufferable and evil.
2) ND - ibid.
3) Miami - scum, thug culture that they are actually proud of
4) OSU - not because of last year. This goes all the way back to Woody Hayes.
5) coots - and I don't even truly hate them. They are almost too pitiful to hate. But they get easy to hate when they have their rare successes (by their standards), whether it is the OBC and their 5 in a row, Taneyhill and his antics, or Hootie and Todd Ellis being idiots.

I think UGA is clear cut for #2. At #3 I would put Ryan Day (not tOSU)
As far as in conference …. I would bet if a pole was taken then UNC or NCST would come out on top followed by the Yellow Jackets.
I don’t feel the hate for FSU but maybe that is just me. Hated them when Inwas growing up in Florida as a Gator fan. But now, just don’t feel the hate. Feel the pity for a once great program that I hope gets their #### together one of these days.

That's when my hate elevated substantially for FSU! Or that Deon Prime Time character that was on that team! Haha!
Actually, I never "Hated" FSU or I would pull for them to lose every game but I always found myself pulling for them except when playing us or if the game made a difference in the division championship.
Bobby Bowden was a good coach, great players coach, good Christian guy, and beat a lot of good teams back in the day. Fisher was always good for a laugh. Didn't really have an opinion on Taggart obviously in over his head and never a threat. Now this new guy, might be finding some dislike for that dude, time will tell, but he seems a little cocky and signs of NCSt Dummy Dave like attitude. I hope he isnt that bad but if so, my hatred for Free Shoe U or is it Free Snow crab U nowadays??
But I agree, we kind of need each other, we need them to get better. I guarantee they would leave with us if we decided to move to SEC.
