Stories about the pending B1G media deal juxtaposed against the ACC til 2036

makes it increasingly likely we’ll see the dissolution of the ACC by an 8-conference member majority.
Those 8-teams will have a negotiated landing spot that’s a win-win for themselves and with those they intend to partner as a requisite.
Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren said July 26 that he looked forward to welcoming more media partners into the league.
"This is not just a normal one-unit television deal," Warren told ESPN. "This is going to be forward-thinking. I want people 20 years from now to look back and go, 'Wow, man, they were ahead of the curve on that deal.'"
The Big Ten's new media rights agreement, which still must be approved by league presidents and chancellors, reportedly is set to bring the league more than $1 billion annually.
I’m also more confident that above all, Clemson will do what’s best for Clemson.
Change is coming.

Ga Tech can't even sell out their 55,000 stadium with Clemson as the visiting team. They are not a football draw and are part of the baggage problem affecting us and other ACC football-intensive programs.

Something like this could be realistic, or a split the baby option with the B1G and SEC.
What would need to be true regardless is that 8-teams in the ACC get on the same page, have their agreements inked, then dissolve the conference. That’s a lot of moving parts, but functionally doable.

I’m not suggesting any 8-teams in the ACC could equal that. I am stating that there are at least eight that could dissolve the conference thereby negating any legal/financial impact of the GOR AND have negotiated agreements in place superior to the one they’re in now.
None of those options include only themselves.

Not $100 million maybe but $75-80 range as a single division playing one another more often:
Clemson Miami FSU Va Tech Louisville Pitt NC State UNC
Add West Va for a 9th and that will do it. Beasts of the East.
Ga Tech, UVA, Duke, Wake, BC, and Syracuse can form a 2nd division for football with three more eastern schools and cut their own football deal.
For other sports we can stay together and split evenly.

I feel as you, there isn't 8 ACC school worth and 50 mil a year as a FB school, and it's FB that will bring in the bucks. I think that only Clemson, FSU, and Miami are the only true FB schools in the ACC. As far as VT, once Beamer retire, the VT admin no longer give a crap about FB, and they have proved that with their lack of upgrades that will keep up with the Joneses of college FB!!!

Been on the SEC band wagon but now seeing the B1G is cutting ESPN I believe I have changed my mind.
At the end of the day whichever we get would be fine. Anything to help us monetarily keep up with our competition.

Yep. Why this matters??
Aug 9, 2022, 4:58 PM
|
|
2021 Clemson athletics revenue: $123MM: 50% donations, 30% media rights, 20% tickets, govt, other.
That’s $37MM for media rights.
B1G schools are expected to bring in $60MM under their new deal.
Addressing that disparity would bring media rights up to 50% of our athletic budget at parity with donations.
Football revenue IS the engine that supports ALL Clemson athletics; where it is today and what it aspires to be in the future. It simply can’t and won’t be left to “things working themselves out.”
