I'm sure most of you have read the TNet article. The quotes are very accurate. Below I've linked the video. The interviewer is Alli (short for alligator) Peek. She's a dyed in the wool Gator. Former athlete there (I think volleyball.) Married to a former football player (I think kicker.) She does regular podcasts on Gator football. Not a homer. She talks about their flaws and does not try to sugar coat everything. But, she still in her own words "is a gator to the bone."

Anyway, I think you will enjoy watching the video (and not just because she is easy on the eyes). The part about FSU and Clemson comes toward the end. But, at the beginning Spurrier takes a swipe at the state of Gator football. At about the 45 second mark he says, "...and hopefully the Gators will be able to compete and still win a conference championship in the next 10 years sometime."

He said that while sitting in his office at the Gator complex. It is right down the hall from Billy Napier's office. I think Napier heard the shot as it whizzed across the bow. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the state of the program.

Starting around the 2:40 mark he is asked about FSU and the lawsuit. Y'all know Spurrier. He loves to take jabs at his rivals. Alli served him a softball question. I'm sure she was expecting an answer filled with a couple of sarcastic comments with disparaging remarks about the Seminoles. (I know I was.)

Instead he took the opportunity to speak in positive terms about the state of FSU football and even threw in Clemson, although not even asked about them. The comments were clear. FSU and Clemson are in a position where they can come in and compete in the SEC immediately. Alli did a good job trying to be professional. But, she was shocked by his answer. She was expecting something along the lines of, "Be careful what you ask for...SEC football is different...They will struggle...etc."

She gives her thoughts about his answer starting at about the 4:45 mark. Even says she teed it up for him to give a snarky answer but he didn't.
