Starting lineup in hoops next year.

Mar 16, 2019, 8:55 AM

Who do you have? We lose a lot, but it seems like we will be pretty deep. Do you see any true frosh starting? Possibly at pg?

Center. Javon White
PF. Johnathan Baerhe
SF. Simms
SG. ?
Pg. Trapp? Maybe Dawes or Chase Hunter?

Where does Hunter Tyson fit in? He probably breaks out next year.

Looks like a 12 - 20 record

I am just worried about PG. Hopefully a freshman is ready. Trapp won't cut it.

You may be a little optimistic with that prediction.....not going to be pretty for sure..... Go Tigers!!!!

we have some kind of off season tourney this summer. Hopefully that will help the new guys mesh with the others. we will need it with the lack of experience we have versus this year

If we get good PG play, I could see us having potential. I see NIT, but we might be pretty deep.

Whatever ...., let’s hope for bad things! We need something to complain about or our lives would be useless.

define bad- regular bad or bad in the context of our basketball? ;)

If I had to guess right now

Mar 16, 2019, 9:21 AM

PG-Dawes, Trapp, Hunter
2G-Trapp, Hunter, Newman, Hemenway
SF-Newman, Tyson, Simms
PF-Simms, Baerhe, William
C-White, Jemison, William

We have room to add a grad transfer

I just dont see where the offense comes from

I want to find this offensive but I think you're right

Barhe is supposed to be really good. He may be hard to keep out of the starting lineup.

Re: If I had to guess right now

Mar 16, 2019, 10:27 AM

Nobody coming from unc Asheville with only decent numbers is going to make that big of a difference

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: If I had to guess right now

Mar 16, 2019, 10:30 AM

I bet youre wrong. He played very well in the NIT and has had another year to mature and add muscle. He should be a really good one.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

At UNCA he was an excellent defender

Mar 16, 2019, 12:50 PM

but limited offensively. I hope he's added some bulk. At 6'10, 205, he'd get pushed around big time in the league

Re: Starting lineup in hoops next year.

Mar 16, 2019, 9:24 AM

Center. Javon White, Jemison
PF. Baerhe, William
SF. Simms, Tyson
SG. Newman, Hunter
Pg. Trapp, Dawes

Will have multiple options and several breakout candidates.

Trapp: 30 minutes
Simms: 30
White: 25
Newman: 21
Bahre: 19
Tyson: 18
Dawes: 15

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Simms, out of necessity, has been playing

Mar 16, 2019, 9:29 AM

out of position at SF all year. He can't guard quicker guys on the perimeter. He'll move back inside next year and float a little around the 3 pts line. He's the only guy we have with any kind of post game

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Starting lineup in hoops next year.

Mar 16, 2019, 9:30 AM

Very little ACC caliber talent. Next year's roster would not win the SoCon.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This could actually be true^^***

You dont even know what they can do yet. You havent seen them all play and some of them will be just sophomores next year and may improve. I think Hunter Tyson will be good next year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hopefully coach didn't play these guys much this year just so they'll be fresh for next season

Mar 16, 2019, 10:12 AM

Always thinking ahead.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sure this year's lineup could've won the SoCon***

Mar 16, 2019, 10:28 AM [ in reply to Re: Starting lineup in hoops next year. ]

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We definitely underachieved for the talent that we have.

Mar 16, 2019, 10:34 AM

It's not great talent, but it's better than our record.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My comment was more of a statement on the quality of play in the SoCon

Mar 16, 2019, 10:44 AM

Than Clemson's lack of talent.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually, almost all of those players had offers from other ACC schools.

Mar 16, 2019, 10:53 AM [ in reply to Re: Starting lineup in hoops next year. ]

Simms, Jemison, Tyson, Dawes, and Hunter were all four star recruits by at least one service.

Your negative agenda is obvious.

Re: Starting lineup in hoops next year.

Mar 16, 2019, 10:25 AM

Baehre is taller than Simms but doesn’t okay big at all. Simms has to play the 4 with Baehre at the 3. Plus Baehre shoots 3’s better probably

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Starting lineup in hoops next year.

Mar 16, 2019, 11:25 AM

Simms could be one heck of a player if he dedicates himself this off-season.He needs to drive more.Tyson cam shoot the 3 and needs to get bigger and stronger.Baehre is supposed to be very tuff. Trapp can play the 2 or 3 in some sets he has tremendous atheleticism he needs to shoot a 1000 shots per day. The Dawes Hemingway Hunter triumvirate will formulate the back court. This team if the players make the needed improvement and coached right could be a tough out.Would love to see them push and attack offensively.

I think next year’s team could be ok. We need a grad transfer if we have roster room.
