Spurrier knows truth...Clown will be the biggest draft bust

Feb 20, 2014, 11:02 AM

PERIOD...a NON factor in the NFL

Not sure about that

Depending entirely on his drive and determination (which is to be seen), he can be a Mario Williams style player (though probably not as 'prolific'. A solid pass-rusher who will be double teamed on obvious passing downs, but that is seen as a positive by some teams as it causes an unbalanced line on the other side and can still be a positive of him being on the field.

That said he isn't (or shouldn't be) the #1 unless he somehow convinces folks he has the drive to play at a higher pace than he did in college.

If he is lazy as he was at SCU, he will be a bust….

If he actually plays hard he can be great. I just don't see him changing his attitude. He was babied all the way through high school and college. And that babying created an attitude in him that he doesn't have work hard to get his spot and attention. He won't be babied in the NFL. The NFL expects results, no matter how much talent you have.

I have never seen a player, in all my years watching college football pull the stunts he did this last season. He is the most selfish player in the history of college football.

that in three or four years Clowney would be out of the NFL, penniless, and back in Rock Hill living at his mothers house. His laziness and lack of a strong work ethic will be his downfall.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

He might have the best NFL body in this year's draft. (perhaps)

However, he does have some red flags with his speeding tickets and work ethic.

If someone is going to invest the kind of money that many expect,
than I hope he improves in those areas.

He would almost have to try to be a bigger bust than

Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf.

Clowney has the potential to be a star. Maybe money will motivate him. I think it's fairly foolish to say he will be a bust.

Money didn't motivate him at SCU***

To start the season , excuse mill to end the seson. He plain sucked this year. All spurious excuses aside , the kid didn't produce to the hype. Everyone seems to believe he will "change his ways" after the contract ...I say those who believe this need to study the history of NFL busts. Most to all of their problems centered around attitude and work ethic. Those are the two big red flags with Jadave-a-Clown . He has that same false sense of entitlement that is typicalI the "bust" player. He believes what he has been told about himself and that things will just fall Iin his lap.
I agree that he is a fantastic prospect , but I also believe that just being a great athelete is about 1/5th the necessary ingredient s making up the successful NFL player

It's all about getting the $$$$$

Even if he never plays a snap, many including myself would sit on the bench for 1/2 his projected paycheck
