Spurrier admits he left South Carolina because

Dec 21, 2018, 4:43 PM

he had the team in a mess. I always thought he was just burned out.

He forgot to mention that at the time he left no good Florida high school coach trusted him enough to send their players there because of his history of lying to students in that state.

It can't be said enough that he was the best coach the Coots ever had and probably ever will.

I think you are right. He let it get in a mess because he was burnt out and didn't have the desire to work hard enough to right the ship.

So sounds like he was both the source of problems, and he was running away from problems. Not good. How did he get hired again?

Don't worry Steve it was a train wreck before you got there

A sad fact for coots: This it true, but he still left it better than he found it.

That's rich.

He intentionally destroys a middle of the conference program then brags about it. As if announcing he might not be here in two years doesn't change recruiting success.

That's too bad. Imo, he's the best coach in his generation. Saban could not have done what SOS did in South Carolina and if SOS had Clemson's talent every game would be a 45 point blow out. I can't believe they didn't give him a lifetime contract with a retirement fund if he ever decided to hang up the ole spurs.

Head coach says he's responsible for team. Someone writes an article about it

Dec 21, 2018, 6:13 PM

One of the downsides of the internet. Everyone with an internet connection has a "publication" and write about anything

That's sweet of him to say, but really. . .no one this side of Asgard could sustain what he cobbled together there.

I don't like his methods nor his character, but he is one h*e*l*l of a coach, and he brought them the best years they'll ever have.

What's funny is while USuC fans should be looking for the best sculptor to bronze the man's image, they're castigating him like he left them in some kind of lurch.

Dude, he pulled a Yugo out of a pond, got it running, and won races with it before the wheels fell off. Now they're back to their usual tricycle.
